FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MISSOULA AGING SERVICES HOME MODIFICATIONS PROGRAM ACCEPTING

NEW CLIENTS

MISSOULA, MT (FEBRUARY 8, 2023) Missoula Aging Services (MAS) is offering a

new program aimed at helping older adults increase the safety of their homes to support
aging in place. The Home Modifications program offers affordable, simple repairs and
installations for people over sixty living in Missoula County.

The Home Modifications program can provide improvements such as installing grab
bars and accessible bathroom fixtures, ramps, indoor and outdoor hand railings, or toilet
risers that can help people age safely in place. Other routine maintenance, including
door and window repair or replacement, small plumbing and electrical repairs,
winterization, light fixture replacement, smoke and CO2 detector installation, and more,
can help make living at home for longer possible.

Gabe Goeres, Care Management Program Manager for the Agency shared, “At
Missoula Aging Services, we believe in supporting our client’s wishes to age in place.
This program is instrumental in helping people with small improvements or modifications
to support those wishes. This affordable program is a great way to increase safety in the
home and has helped many people remain in their homes when their ability to keep up
with maintenance and improvements becomes more challenging.”

During the no-cost consultation, the Home Modification Coordinator (HMC) will gather
information and create an estimate for the project. The HMC will work closely with the
client to ensure the client’s needs are met and all work plans are approved by the client
before any project begins. The cost of the modifications will depend on what the person
needs to have done to the home. Clients are billed for parts at cost, and labor is $50 per
hour. Individuals interested in the Home Modifications program can learn more on the
website or call the Agency to schedule an appointment.
