CHAPTER III

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS, AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

This chapter presents the data gathered by the researchers from the Philippine Statistical
Yearbook. It also shows the analysis and interpretation of the gathered data.

1. How does the average annual income of Filipino families in 2015 be described?

The average Standard

Mean Minimum Maximum

Table 3.1
The average annual income of Filipino families in 2015.

Table 3.1 above presents the average income of families in the Philippines per region.
According to the gathered data, the 17 regions have an average income of families in the
Philippines is P238,000 with a standard deviation of 2051.84. In the appendices, table 1 shows
that the National capital Region (NCR) has the highest average income with 425 (in thousand).
On the other hand, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) has the lowest average
income of 139 (in thousand).

2. How does the average malnutrition rate of the Philippines in 2015 be described?

The Average Standard

Mean Minimum Maximum

Underweight 22.6 15.2 31.6 4.78
Table 3.2
The average percentage of underweight in the Philippines.

Table 3.2 above presents the average percentage of underweight Filipinos by region.
According to the gathered data, the 17 regions have an average underweight percentage is 22.6
with a standard deviation of 4.78. In the appendices, table 2 shows that Region VIIII- Eastern
Visayas has the highest average percentage of underweight (31.6%). On the other hand, the
lowest average underweight is 15.2%, which is the National Capital Region.
3. Is there a significant relationship between the average amount of income of
Filipino families and the percentage of underweight children aging 0-60 months
in the Philippines?

average percentage of underweight in the Philippines.

Table 3.3 above presents the summary of the Pearson r correlation coefficient between
the average annual income of Filipino families and the average percentage of underweight in the
Philippines. The effect size is equal to -.694599 and the p-value is 0.001973 less than the alpha
0.05 level of significance. Therefore, the researchers rejected the null hypothesis in favor of the
alternative hypothesis with a negative moderate relationship. The researchers concluded that
there is a significant relationship between the average annual income of Filipino families and the
average percentage of underweight in the Philippines.
