In a Nutshell

1. In order to apply Industrial Hygiene, what would you do to help minimize occupational health hazards.
Explain.

- To apply Industrial Hygiene and to help minimize the occupational health hazards, the first thing I would
do is to create an educational program where it teaches and trains new employees about what to do and
what not to do in the workplace. Next is to provide proper personal protective equipment (PPE) to every
worker as it is really needed to protect them from the hazards. Last thing I would do to help is to put
warning signs in the workplace and to instruct the new employees about what the signs means.

In a Nutshell

1. How would you control hazardous contaminants? Explain.

- Based on what I’ve read, the best way to control hazardous contaminants is to isolating the
hazardous contaminants in separate storage areas to minimize exposure of it to workers. Also, other
way to control hazardous contaminant is to apply substitution, which is to replace high toxic
contaminants into non-toxic. There are many ways in controlling hazardous contaminants, however I
think isolation and substitution is more effective than other methods.

2. Give an example of hazards at home and how do you apply environment control measure? Explain.

- Most common example of hazard at home is physical hazards, which is falling, choking, cuts, burns
and fires. Well, I can apply ventilation or proper design and planning, both of them are part of the
environmental control measures. With ventilation, I can use it to lessen the cause of fire, by supplying
fresh air and not trapping various chemicals in there that might cause fire. Also, by proper design and
planning, I can improve the design of our stairs to lessen the chances of falling from it. Many
environmental control measures can be applied with the hazards that I gave, and not only ventilation,
and proper design and planning.
