Modal verbs: Should. Ought to.

 Use either to give an advice or suggestion, when you think something is a


good (or bad) idea.
 Ought to is not commonly used in questions and is very infrequent in
general. When used, is often in formal speech.

Aff/neg: subject + should or ought to + main verb + complement


Questions: Should or ought to + subject + main verb + complement?

Imperatives
 Imperatives are used for orders and commands.
 Imperatives use the same form as infinitives (base form of the verb).
 Imperatives always have the subject “you” but is never written.

2. Write a book
3. Do your job
4. Climb that wall

Phrasal verbs
Phrasal verbs are the combination of a verb and a particle, this last one
changing the meaning of the verb.
 Call- to call someone
 Call off- to cancel
There are two types:
 Separable:  They called off the meeting.
Can either be separated or not when  They called the meeting off.
followed by a personal pronoun they  They called it off.
must be separated.

 Inseparable:
They cannot be separated not
ever.
Particles are
Small words ofter lacking in meaning and not part of any other classification but
important in giving meaning to others.
