(Greetings) (Denver will lead the prayer)

“Good morning class!”
“Good morning, Sir!”
(Checking of attendance)
“Do we have any absentees today?
Jeschel, kindly list down the names of
the absentees and give it to me later.”
(The secretary will check the
attendance)
B. Motivation

“Before we start our lesson proper, let`s have

first an ice breaker.”
(Video exercise presentation)
(Students will follow)

“Now are we ready for our lesson?

“Yes, Sir!”
a. Activity

“Let`s have first an activity and this activity

called Name my Body Parts;

“Ms. Chescka kindly read the direction” (Chescka will read the direction)
DIRECTION: Identify the missing letters
and read it when you
complete the missing
letters.”

“Okay class is the direction clear?”

“Yes, Sir!
(The teacher will flash the pictures and words
with missing letters)

b. Analysis
“In the pictures show earlier in the activity,
can you determine what are the picture that
are part in Nervous system?”

“The brain, the spinal cord, the pancreas

“Yes, David.” and the neuron are the parts of our
body that is included in our nervous
system”

“Very good! That`s correct”

“Now let`s proceed to our discussion
Today.”

c. Abstraction

“Our today`s topic is all about (Student will listen)

Coordinated Functions of the Nervous,
Endocrine and Reproductive System.

“The human body is made up of different

system that coordinates with one another in
order to perform their functions well. If any part
of these organ system malfunctions, the body
will become unbalanced because each system
has its own function in the body.”

“Today we will focus first on Nervous System.

Our Nervous system connects all our body parts
and transmits signals from one another.

It is the responsible for the coordinates of all

activities of the body.

Nervous system Enables the body to responds to

changes that occurs both inside and outside of
the body.
This are the Major division and parts of the
Nervous system

1. Central Nervous System (CNS)

- The CNS serves as the main processing
center for the entire nervous system. It
consists of two main components,
namely the;
a. Brain
- This is an organ located within the skull
that functions as organizer and
distributor of information for the body.
It has three main parts:

Cerebrum – Large, upper part of the

brain that controls activity and thought.
Cerebrum has a Four Lobes; The
Frontal, Parietal, Temporal and the
occipital.

Frontal Lobe – Reasoning ang Thought

Parietal Lobe – Integrates sensory

information

Temporal Lobe – Process auditory

information from the ears.

Occipital Lobe – Processing visual

information from the eyes.
Cerebellum – The part under the
cerebrum that controls or responsible for
posture, balance coordination and
muscle tone.

Brain Stem – The part that connects the

brain to the spinal cord and consist of
four parts.

Diencephalon – Contains of two

structures.

Thalamus – Direct sensory impulse to

the cerebrum
Hypothalamus – Controls and regulates
temperature, appetite, water balance,
sleep and blood vessels constriction and
dilation including our emotions such as
anger, fear, pleasure, pain and affection.

- It is responsible for certain reflex action

such as chewing, tasting and saliva
reproduction.

- It is the lowest part of the brain stem and

it regulate and responsible for heart and
blood vessel function, digestion,
respiration, swallowing, coughing
sneezing and blood pressure.
b. Spinal Cord
- This serves as a channel for signals
between the brain and the rest of the
body, and controls simple
musculoskeletal reflexes without input
from the brain. It has 4 different regions.
- Cervical
- Thoracic
- Lumbar
- Afferent and Efferent Spinal Nerve
Afferent – Carries information from the
body to the brain
Efferent – Carries information from the
brain to the body.

2. Peripheral Nervous System (PNS)

- The PNS connects the central nervous
system to the organs and limbs. It has
two main divisions:
a. Somatic Nervous System
- It is made up of nerves that connects to
skin, sensory organs and skeletal
muscles
- This system is associated with the
voluntary muscle movements.
- Process sensory information from
external stimuli including hearing, touch
and sight.
- The structure that allows this
communication to happen between the
nerves throughout the body in the central
nervous system is as known as Afferent
sensory neurons and afferent Motor
neuron.
- Afferent Sensory Neurons
-Conducting inward
- Efferent Motor Neurons
-Conducting outward

b. Automatic Nervous System

- This system is associated with the
involuntary controls of body movements
and has two subdivisions:
Sympathetic – It is activated when the
body is in a dynamic role or stress. (e.g.,
increased heart rate and breathing,
dilation of pupil, sweating, etc.)

Parasympathetic – it maintains body

functions and restores the body to
normal or relaxed mode.

The Nerve Cell

- The primary cell of the nervous system.
- It allows the nervous system to
communicate with the rest of the body.

Nerve structure:
Cell body
- Also known as the Soma Cerebrum
- Houses the cell nucleus Cerebellum
Dendrites Brain Stem
- Tree-like branches that extend off the
soma.
- This are used by the neuron to detect
both chemical and electrical stimuli
Axon
- Located at the center of the neuron
- This is the largest extension from the
soma or cell body.
- Up to meter in length
- It serves as the primary communication
pipeline from one end of the neuron to
the other.
Axon hillock “It is the responsible for the coordinates of all
- The junction that connects the axon to activities of the body.”
the cell body.
Myelin Sheaths “Nervous system Enables the body to responds to
- Section of fatty tissue changes that occurs both inside and outside of
- Help to protect the axon the body.”
- Speed up signal conduction

Synapse or Synaptic cleft “Central Nervous System and Peripheral

- The message transmission happens at the Nervous system.”
Synapse.
- In this area chemical and electrical
neurotransmitter are released and
picked up by the dendrites of the other “Cerebrum, Cerebellum and Brain stem.”
nerve cell.
As neurons pass information to the Central
nervous system, our body then interpret this “Somatic nervous system and automatic
messages as sight, sounds, aroma and other nervous system.”
sensation that allow us to observe the world
around us. “It is the one who allows the nervous system to
communicate with the rest of the body.
d. Application

DIRECTION: Give the three main part of

the Central Nervous system
and its function

e. Generalization

“What is the function of Nervous

System in our body?”
“Very good!”
“What are the two(2) Major division of
Nervous system”

“Very good!”
“What are the components of Central
nervous system?

“Very good!”
What are the components of Peripheral
nervous system?”
