Laundry on the go: How a new laundry

business can succeed in the area

Statement of the problem:
This study aims to determine whether the area has a market for laundry services. We will
specifically investigate the need for laundry services and the chances customers will be satisfied.
Additionally, we will research any potential rivalry with nearby locations.
Objectives:
• Determine the area's current need for laundry services.
• Identify the essential qualities or advantages that clients seek in a laundry service.
• Determine customers' demands and assess their satisfaction with the current local laundromats.
• Examine market trends to assess the likelihood that a new laundry business would succeed in the
area.
Data collection methods:
I. Sampling method
Convenience sampling will be used for this research. Participants who can be easily
reached are searched for this strategy. The sample size will consist of 50 people who live or
work within 5 kilometers of the area and 5 owners or staff of local laundromats already in
operation.
II. Data-Gathering Method:
We will collect data using both qualitative and quantitative methods, including an
online survey and focus group interviews. The online survey will be given to our sample
participants via email, while focus group interviews with local laundromat owners/employees will
be conducted in person.
Survey questions:
1. Do you do your own laundry on a regular basis?
2. Do you like doing your own laundry or going to the laundromat?
3. What characteristics or perks do you search for in a laundromat?
4. How much money do you spend on laundry each month on average?
5. Are there any unique protocols that could improve your laundromat experience?
6. How would you assess the service quality of existing laundromats?
7. Do you believe that having more options close to your home would be beneficial?
8. What kind of services do you want to see in a new local laundromat?
