PHYSICAL WELLNESS/COMPONENTS OF PHYSICAL FITNESS AND

ASSESSMENT
Answer the following questions comprehensively.
1.) What is the purpose of fitness testing and assessment?
In my understanding and in the question itself the purpose of fitness testing is to
test and assess every student. It is needed to test every student to know their
capabilities and if they need to improve. In my experience every fitness testing
and assessment should be done at the start of the school year and the end of
school year. By this teacher's would know if they were able to improve their
students in the different activities that they provided to help them.

2.) What are the components of physical fitness? In each component please
give an example/s of a fitness testing assessment. Ex. Speed-50-meter
sprint
The components of physical fitness are health related fitness and skill related
fitness. In health related fitness the components are body composition which is
the amount of body fat, muscle, bone, and other tissues that make up our body.
Here we are calculating our body mass index or what we call BMI.
Cardiovascular endurance is our ability to perform an activity, with our heart rate
elevated examples are 3 minute step tests, swimming, running, aerobic dances
like zumba, ballroom, and etc. Muscular strength is our ability to exert force
during an activity one of the examples are core strength and stability test, weight
lifting, working on resistance bands, or using our body weight as resistance like
push ups, sit ups and many more. Muscular endurance is our muscle ability to do
more without feeling fatigue. Lastly, flexibility is the range of motion around our
joints examples are shoulder flexibility testing, sit and reach, and trunk lift testing.
These components focus on improving our health. On the other hand, skill
related fitness contains components that can improve our skills. The components
are Balance, (ex. Standing stork test) Power, (ex. Vertical jump test) Reaction
time, (ex. Ruler drop test) Coordination, (ex. Alternate hand wall toss test) Agility,
(ex. Illinois agility test) and last Speed (ex. 30 meter sprint)
3.) Why are fitness testing assessments important?
For me fitness testing assessment is important because as a student itself. I want
to know where skills I am lacking and need to improve. Also as a future PE
teacher I don't want to take risks and endanger my students if I don't make them
do a fitness testing assessment. Because we would be relying on our future
endeavors and activities to our assessment and if we don't do it. We don't have
bases and might end up making activities that are not suitable for each one of
our students. So it is important to do a fitness testing assessment to know our
students' limits, capabilities and need to improve, with showing care and practice
safety with everyone.

4.) What is the importance of physical fitness and wellness?

Physical fitness and wellness is important because as people we need to live a
healthy lifestyle if we want to prolong our life and we are solely responsible for
our own wellness. Being physically active and engaging yourself in different
exercises that suit you can help us avoid diseases such as obesity, diabetes,
stroke and even high blood pressure, etc. We will not only be physically fit but
also help us to have good mental health. Overall physical fitness and wellness
can change our old lifestyle and improve our quality of life.
