Performance Task 2.1 Plotting and Tracking Typhoon in the PAR

GOAL The learner is able to explain how typhoons develop and trace the path of typhoons using a theoretical Philippine
Area of Responsibility (PAR) under a cartesian plane.
ROLE Junior news reporter
AUDIENCE News Anchor and Live TV
SITUATION You are a junior news reporter in Weather Today. You were assigned to plot and track a developing tropical
cyclone entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). With the help of weather satellites and modern
systems, PAGASA was able to provide the predicted coordinates its development. You have to plot and track it
using a map and tracking data indicating the proper symbol for each tropical cyclone stage. You also have to
compute for the equation of every straight line that will occur in plotting of your points. Afterward, you should
make a simple report stating the name, coordinates, affected provinces, and typhoon warning signal. Possible
questions from the news anchor should also be answered.

Materials:
• Long Folder
• Philippine Map (can be a digital or physical copy)
• Philippine Area of Responsibility (printed in Long Bond paper, template will be given by the teachers)
• Ruler and Pencil
• Coloring and Art Materials
PRODUCT Folder containing the (1) plotted PAR, (2) developmental stage table, (3) answers to the guide questions and
computations, and (4) written news report.
STANDARD Please refer to the rubric

Part A: Construction of the Theoretical PAR

Part B: Guide Questions

Part C: Writing of the news report
