MODULE 1

ASSESSMENT I

1. Read module 1 and give your reflecion in Asian Pop Culture.

I have learned that Asian Pop Culture begins with the end of political and military upheavals such as the
Vietnam war and the Chinese Cultural Revolution, and a gradual thawing of diplomatic relations from the late
1970s to the 1990s (according from the module).

Asian Pop Culture can be taught of as a catch-all word for the examination of numerous components of
Asian Culture utilizing a variety of methodologies and viewpoints, including film, television, literature, music,
animation, social media, digital media, and advertising.

Half of the world’s population resides in Asia, Students get the chance to learn different perspective on the
world through studying Asia’s culturally and historically diverse regions. Our global economic and political
climate has changed as a result of economic development in Asia.

The presented viewpoint on Asian Pop culture enables us to learn about and get insights into the cultures
and traditions of every Asian country, as well as their differences and similarities to our own customs and
tradtions. The growth of Asian Pop Culture reflects the shifting sentiments of Asian youth toward their
neighbors. Those Asian countries effectively create beneficial ties with one another through a similar interest in
popular culture, as a common ground discovered in music and movies can undoubtedly engender a sense of
goodwill towards one another.

1. ) Research Philippine Popular Culture and give your insights and examples.

Philippine Popular Culture has a wide range of social effects. Pop culture’s first and most fundamental impact
is how it fosters and deepens relationships with those who have similar interests. Pop culture festivals like
Comic-con promote conncetions between people from various background. Because of colonial influences and

those of its neighbors, the Philippines have a particularly distinctive culture. Filipinos put a lot of effort into
improving the lives of their families’ future generation. Examples of Philippine Popular Culture are the
following; Bayanihan Filipino culture, Harana, Filipino Foods, Pop music OPM, Filipino clothing such as
Baro’t saya for women and Barong for men. Pasidungog Festival, Kundiman Festival, Ati-Atihan
Festival and many more.

2. ) Think about Philippine Popular Culture in our country being portrayed by the new generation. Does
Philippine values and tradition still the same or is it already manipulated or gone. Why and How?

Ans: Based on what I observed about the new generations and how they presented Philippine values and
traditions from the past and present. All I can say is that it’s not still the same as it was before. The respect,
and everything else that was before is now slowly fading, like simply showing respect to the elderly, the food,
the music, and even the fashion. Some Filipinos are influenced by the new technologies in a modernized
world. Not to generalize all Filipinos, there are some Filipinos who are still adapt the old traditions and values.

ASSESSMENT II

1. Distinguish the manner of fashion before and present.

Along with what’s fashionable, culture and tradition can have an impact on fashion. The manner of fashion
before was more decent looking than today. But as for what I am saying, fashion occurs from time to time and
is influenced by culture and tradition. The manner of fashion in the present is influenced by the trends from
other countries, where it is different as usual. According to my observations, today’s fashion is influenced by
international trends.

2. Look for a picture before meaning the past fashion and compare it to the present fashion. Write down an
essay comparing the fashion before and the present fashion.

Fashion cycles occur. It reacts to the era and society in which it is found. Fashion is a constantly evolving
trend that will look radically different from year to year and will draw inspiration from its own past in the future.
Although there are similarities between the fashion trends of today and yesterday, current patterns plainly
diverge from the fashionable attire of the early 20 th century. There are numerous new clothing categories with
various styles and theme dresses available now that were created with consideration for cultural progress.
Also, bear in mind that while discussing how clothing is worn as a part of human civilization, how we freely and
purposefully choose the clothes that express who we are is actually more significant.

What are your thoughts?

Men and Women pre-dressed are different from today’s fashion, but based on what I’ve seen in terms of
current fashion, the old looks are slowly making a comeback. Nevertheless, I’ve seen some Filipinos wearing
looks that have been influenced by international new trends, which we are gradually incorporating into our
fashion heritage. There are still some Filipinos who choose to dress according to Philippine tradition and the
country’s previous fashion.

1. Write a reflection paper about Pop culture in Mass Media.

Through this module, I can say that I have learned a lot, especially about fashion, culture, and even the
relationship between pop culture and mass media, that I will be able to apply my knowledge to the future and
even now to have a full grasp and appreciation of such amazing cultures in Asia. Pop culture in the mass
media, including television, social media, technology, folklore, movies, pop music, and so forth.
Through this innovative technology, I can say that it helps us to explore things from other countries in Asia
and also, through it, we don’t have to go to other countries in Asia , especially when we don’t have enough
money to travel and see the beautiful scenery and traditions of different countries in Asia, but because of the
technology that we have now, we can see and appreciate the cultures and traditions through pictures, music,
and movies that are in magazines, television, or in Social media.

Only a few sources had wide audiences when mass media first began to exist. These mass media
sources had a significant impact on the culture of large groups.

All the clippings in the topic v contain a relationship between culture and traditions in different countries and
how people used them before and now . It contain how people view and used it to their daily life.

I choose Slang because it is evident that Slang is important and that it plays a vital role in language learning. We beg to differ with
anyone who questions the importance of slang or who just thinks it doesn’t exist. We typically have a purpose in mind when
learning a new language, whether it is for learning a new language, whether it is for academic advancement, professional
opportunity, curiosity, fun, or another reason. Slang is informal type of language to use in certain situations.

Nowadays, new generation or Gen Z typically using this type of language, a slang for communication especially used in Social medias
platforms, they served Slang as for communicating one another. Here is an examples of Slang words aside from the picture above.
