TRIVIAL No action is required and no documentary record needs to be kept.

A5 DEFINITION OF LEVEL OF EHS RISKS
No additional controls are required. Consideration may be given to a more cost-
TOLERABLE effective solution or improvement that imposes no additional cost burden. Moni-
toring is required to ensure that the controls are maintained.

MODERATE Efforts should be made to reduce the EHS risk, but the cost of prevention should
be carefully measured and limited. EHS risk reduction measures should be im-
plemented.

SUBSTANTIAL Work should not be started until the EHS risk has been reduced. Considerable
resources may have to be allocated to reduce the EHS risk where the EHS risk
involves work in progress, urgent action should be taken.

Work should not be started or continued until the EHS risk has been reduced. If it
INTOLERABLE is not possible to reduce EHS risk even with unlimited resources, work has to re-
main prohibited.

 Substitution equipment’s.
EHS Risk  Pollution prevention /  Engineering controls
Control Waste management  Signage / warning / administrative
Measures
 Recycle / reuse / controls
reconditioning  Personnel protective equipment’s
 Waste treatment  Behavior monitoring
 Waste disposal  Supervision
 Human factor
