What runs inside the mind for one to have either fixed or growth mindset considering that
human beings comprise these mindsets? In chapter two of Mindsets: The New Psychology of
Success, Carol Dweck tackles the mindset categories concept in details by focusing on the mind.
Dweck notices that both fixed and growth mindsets have development and experience negations
in human beings once they are practiced. Accordingly, a fixed mindset is associated with
negative outcomes whereas a growth mindset results in positive development. Part of the
consequences linked with fixed mindset include; growth of uncontrolled ego, stagnant mindset t
growth, full of excuses, and are captives of their outcomes since they do not see a reason of
testing their selves further. Conversely, growth mindset spells out its benefits including;
suppression of ego, critical growth of the mind over time, enhanced determination development,
and promoted outcome independence. In this book, Carol’s content flows extremely well and
thus giving the reader a broader understanding to choose which type of mindset is beneficial.
Conclusively, I think individuals value a fixed mindset because it discourages new challenges,
but the best way to live a better life is by practicing a growth mindset as it nurtures experience
and traits.
