Practice Plan

Problem(s) encountered during previous games:

Today’s Practice focus: Fast Breaks

Skill Activities: Organization: 20 min segment

1. 3v2 2v1 8 min

- Our team will be using this activity to simulate a fast break scenario where we have the defense
out numbered.
- I will be emphasizing the importance of making the open pass and timing.
- Preferably we should be able to score openly when outnumbering the defense with 2-3 GOOD
passes.
2. “Torch” 6 min
- Torch is a simple transition offense that helps with spatial awareness on the court when
running down the floor during a fast break. It gives each player a spot or job when breaking out
in transition. If unable to score off the fast break, torch will also help us be set to run an
offense.
- The “2” or shooter runs up the right side of the floor
- PG bringing it up the middle
- the “3” or other guard is running wide down the left side of the court
- The 5 is “rim running” hard and fast straight to the block
- the 4 or other post/big guard will be trailing and stopping about at the free throw or three point
line. Here they can ask for the ball to shoot, or make a pass, or they can set a screen for the PG.
3. Rebound Transition 6 min
- This activity is to simulate a situation where a shot has gone up and our team gets a quick
rebound and pushes the ball up the floor in transition.
- This activity will be done 4v3. Players will line up on/around the free throw line. Whichever
team gets the rebound will make a good outlet pass to your point guard or other guard and push
the ball up the floor; while running wide, and in a similar formation to torch just without all 5
players.
