Three words to describe myself:

1. Ambitious/motivated
2. Open-minded in many aspects but mostly helped me become versatile/adaptable to our
new normal of school due to the pandemic.
3. Persistent/determined

Career goals
My career goal is to find myself working in an environment where I am comfortable and
happy. I want to have a job that will help me continue to learn new innovative technological
advances and skills. I also wish to do well in the company I work for by working hard towards
the top.

Personal Goals
My personal goal is to be financially stable. I want to live a life without having to worry
about money when spending and without having to depend on others for help. Growing up, my
parents have always told me that they want me to get a good education so that I can get a good
job and have money to support myself. I hope to make my parents proud and set a good example
for my younger sibling.

Why would you like to attend college/ trade school/military?

I would like to attend college because I have the opportunity to do so. Not everyone in
my family had the opportunity to get a good education past high school so I would take that
advantage to go to college, get a good career, and make a life for myself.

Do your grades in high school reflect your academic ability or potential? Explain
I believe that my grades in high school reflect my academic ability because I pride myself
on being a straight A student for the most part. I have always been determined to keep up my
grades and study to the best of my ability so that my chances of going to a good college can
increase. I believe that when I go to college I can stay persistent and academically motivated
since I am determined to do my best.

Are there any particular circumstances, school experiences, or persons that influenced your
motivation to attend college. Military? Explain
At school, teachers and counselors always tell us that we should go to college and have
given us information and guidance on what we should do after high school. They tell us how it’s
really important to have a plan. Ever since I was little, my parents have always told me that they
want me to go to college and get a good job so that I can support myself and my younger sibling
when they are no longer here. Going to college can help me better myself, become more
educated, and live a life where I am comfortable with no worries about finances.

Describe any obstacles you have faced in school/life and how you overcame them
During school, obstacles I’ve had were the pandemic and online learning. Having to
adapt to online learning was a challenge because it was hard to learn on your own without a
teacher physically being there. I felt like I was teaching myself for the most part since
communicating with the teacher and other students became less available. On top of that, I also
had to help my younger sibling with their homework when they needed help because they were
also learning online. I overcame this challenge by staying motivated to do my work and having
the determination to keep my grades up and not fail during the time we weren’t physically at
school.
