on the individual, family and community

Performance Standard : The learner shares responsibility with community members through participation
in collective action to prevent and control substance use and abuse

Learning Competencies and Codes : Identifies the types of drugs/substances of abuse (H9S-IIc-18)

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of 60 minutes, 100% of the learners are expected to:

1. Identifies the types of drugs/substances of abuse

A. Reviewing Previous Lesson or Presenting the New Lesson


     
STARTUP ACTIVITY (Guess the word)
Directions: Arrange the jumbled letters to reveal the correct word. The learners are given 10
seconds to answer each jumbled word/s.

B. Establishing a Purpose for the Lesson


Drug abuse or substance abuse are chemicals (Integration to Science) once taken, creates
negative effects to our body physically, emotionally and psychologically. Even people knows
its side effects to our body but millions are still using it and has been increasing day after
day. This problem is very alarming especially to the teenagers and young adult under the
age of 30.
Learners will write the words that associated with drug abuse.

C. Presenting Examples/ Instances of The New Lesson


Ask the learners the following questions
1. How this words related to drug abuse? Let them cite an example.
2. Why drug abuse is dangerous to the teenagers?

D. Discussing New Concepts And Practicing New Skills


The teacher will discuss the types of drugs/substances of abuse

While the teacher is giving the feedbacks or lesson regarding the types of drug substances,
the teacher will ask the students to do the activity 2 : Concept Map on Drug that are
commonly used in the Philippines and their Effects

F. Finding Practical Applications Of Concepts And Skills In Daily Living


Let students answer the following questions (Indicator 2)
1. How important is depressant drug in medical aspect?
2. Give two examples of hallucinogen drugs?
3. How stimulant drug differ from depressant drug?

G. Making Generalizations And Abstractions About The Lesson

The teacher will ask the students to complete the table by writing some facts about the most
common drug abuse.

The students will interview 1-2 students regarding their perception about drugs.
