https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1b4DjyBWVSo
Modal Verbs are Auxiliary Verbs that help express ability, possibility,
request, permission, obligation, prohibition, or suggestion.
Modal verbs are used for various specific situations.

How do we use Modal Verbs appropriately? Here are some rules to

remember when using Modal Verbs:
1. “Will” and “Would” can be contracted.
E.g.
I will see you tonight = I’ll see you tonight.
I would love to go shopping with you. – I’d love to go shopping with
you.

2. Modal verbs do not take ‘s’ in the 3rd person singular.

E.g.
He must answer the question correctly,
It might happen just as we expected.

3. Add the word “not” after a modal verb to form a negative

sentence
E.g.
You must not eat my food.
I cannot speak Tagalog.

Here’s how we contract Modal Verbs to change them to their negative

form.

4. When used in forming questions or interrogative sentences,

follow the pattern:
Modal Verb + Subject + Verb + Object (if verb is Transitive)
Can + you + help + me? = Can you help me?
Will + she + do + it? = Will you do it?
E.g.
Can I buy you a drink?
Shall I call a cab for you?
