Technology Society from ancient period to the present time.

Historical Antecedents of Science and Technology Society

Potter’ wheel- a heavy flat

disk made of hardened clay
which was spun horizontally
on axis. It is believed that the
Sumerians invented the
potter’s wheel shortly after
3500 BC.

Papyrus- a material similar

to thick paper is made from
the pith of the papyrus plant
 ANCIENT PERIOD Cyperus papyrus. It is
(3,500 BC-100BC) lightweight, strong, durable,
and most importantly,
portable. Before the
Egyptians invented the
papyrus, writing was done on
stone.

Aeolipile- is a steamed
powered turbine which spun
when the water container at
its center was heated, thus
making it practically the first
rudimentary steam engine.
And also known as the Hero’s
engine.
Heavy Plough- most
important technological
inventions during the Middle
Ages. It turned the European
agriculture and economy to
its head.

Mechanical Clock- The

development of mechanical
clock paved the way for
accurately keeping track of
 MIDDLE AGES time. The sophistication of
(5th Century AD-395 CE) clockwork technology of the
mechanical clock drastically
changed the way days were
spent and work patterns
were established, particularly
in the more advanced Middle
Age cities.

Gunpowder- around 850 AD,

Chinese alchemist
accidentally invented black
powder or gunpowder.
Multiple accounts suggest
that the gunpowder might
have been an unintended by
product of attempts made
by the Chinese to invent the
elixir of life, which is why the
Chinese called It huoyao
which means “fire potion”.
Compound Microscope-it
was capable of magnifying
objects three times their size
when fully closed and up to
ten times when extended to
the maximum. Today, the
compound microscope is an
important instrument in
many scientific studies, such
as in the area of medicine,
forensic studies, tissue
analysis, atomic studies and
genetics. Invented by Hans
 MODERN AGES and Zacharias Janssen
(1590-1929) (father and son).

Engine Powered Airplane-

Orville Wright and Wilbur
Wright (brothers) are
credited for designing and
successfully operating the
first engine powered aircraft
and flight scientifically. They
proved that aircrafts could
fly without airfoil-shaped
wings.

Television- the Scottish

engineer John Logie Baird is
largely credited for the
invention of modern
television.
2. If you were an inventor, what would you invent? How will this invention make
the world a better place to live in?

- But for me I would invent a simple machine based chemical compound

that can convert any type of Water like sea water or sewage water to pure
drinkable water. As human 80% or more of body is water Then it is our outmost
important thing that we have to invent more for it.

3. How is your invention similar to or different from existing tools or technologies

in terms of function?

- My invention is a way unique compared to other inventions aside from

the fact that the quality is high, it’s also very vital and special to those
professionals who are related to my invention. The function is way better, special,
and fantastic because the technology is way more advanced than what we have
today. I made this invention because I want people to make their work easier and
make like way better than before.
