Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in English 8

Time Frame: 1 hour
Topic: Kinds of Verbs

I. Learning Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:
a. identify the kinds of verbs;
b. appreciate the importance of kinds of verbs through “Alert alert”; and
c. create sentences using the different kinds of verbs.

Subject Matter: Kinds of Verbs

Materials: charts, paper, laptop, marker, bond paper, and pen

III. Procedures
A. Preliminary activities
a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. Classroom Management
d. Checking of attendance
e. Review of the past lesson

B. Motivation "Pick and Do"


Instructions:
 The teacher will give pieces of paper to the class containing action words.
 The teacher will select at least 5 students to read and perform the words
they have picked.
 The students who were selected and performed the activity will be given
5 points each.

Guide Questions:
 What have you observed with the words in the activity?
 What did you use in order to perform those words?
 What do you think is our topic today?
C. Lesson Proper
Presentation of the topic and learning objectives.
a. Activity "Treasure Hunt"
Instructions:
 The teacher divides the class into 3 groups.
 Each group will have to search around the classroom for the missing
treasures.
 Once they find the treasures they will need to shout “Paro paro G!”
then the teacher will ask them brief questions.
 The first group to finish will be given 15 points, 10 points for the
second group and 5 points for the last group.

b. Analysis
The teacher will briefly discuss the different kinds of verbs.

Guide Questions:
 What are the importance of the different kinds of verbs?
 Why is it important to know the different kinds of verbs?
 What would communication be like without verbs?

c. Abstraction “Alert Alert”


Instructions:
 The students will remain in the same group. Then, teacher will call a
random number of the group and the called group needs to quickly
stand.
 The last student to stand will be the one to answer the question.

Guide Questions:
 What are the different kinds of verbs?
 Can you distinguish the difference between transitive and intransitive
verbs?
 What is the purpose of using linking verb?

d. Application
Instructions:
 Individually, in a one whole sheet of paper the students will create at
least 3 sentences using each of the different kinds of verbs..
 The answers will be graded according to the criteria below:

IV. Evaluation
Instruction: Instruction: In a 1/2 crosswise, write if TV if the verb is transitive, IV
if intransitive and LV if linking verb.

1. Children and their parents prayed the rosary.

4. She found the ring.
5. My cat is friendly today.
6. The cream tastes sour.
7. Maria tastes it.
8. The food smells good.

V. Assignment
Instruction: Research the other different types of adjectives and write their
definitions and provide at least three examples each. To be submitted on the next
meeting.
