Malanjkhand Copper Project (MCP) at Malanjkhand, Madhya Pradesh

Mr.Parimal – Geologist

Malanjkhand Copper Project (MCP) has open pit mine with a capacity of 2 million
TPA of ore with a matching concentrator plant, Tailing Disposal System and other
auxiliary facilities

Sampling is done in copper ore in three different stages

1.Copper ore extraction
2.Copper concentrates
3.Copper tailing

 The production of copper ore is around 7000 tonnes per day

 The production of copper concentrate is around 5000 tonnes
 The production of copper tailings is around 6000 tonnes

Sampling:
 Sampling is done using automatic sampler
 Automatic sampler collects sample for every 40 min
 The quantity of sample collected is around 15 litres per shift

Sample preparation:
 Copper concentrates and tailings are in the slurry form, so there is no
requirement of any primary crushers
 Using coning and quartering the sample size is reduced
 The size of ore is reduced from 350 mesh to 200 mesh using coning and
quartering

Drying:
 After the sample is prepared it is dried using the oven

Test:
 The various chemical analyses undertaken in the lab includes identification of
copper, iron, sulphur and insoluble content
