SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN

MATHEMATICS 8
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
a. Illustrate SAS, ASA, SSS congruence postulate and SAA/AAS theorem,
b. Identify included side and angle; and
c. Demonstrate creativity in testing triangle congruence using concrete objects.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Triangle Congruence Postulate
References:
Materials:
III. PROCEDURE
1. Preparatory Activities
A. Drill
a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. Checking of Attendance
d. Checking of Assignment
B. Review
C. Motivation:
The teacher will show an illustration of a triangle.
Let the students analyze and give some insight about the illustration.
The teacher will give some question, about which are the sides and angles of the triangle.
2. Developmental Activities
A. Presentation
The teacher will discuss SAS, ASA, SSS triangle postulate and AAS theorem.
B. Activity
The teacher will give an activity sheet for three groups and present the rubrics.
C. Analysis and Abstraction
The teacher will ask a question about the activity.
D. Application:
The teacher will ask some question about what is already discusses.
3. Concluding Activities
A. Generalization
Some of the student will generalize the discussion.
B. Application
The teacher will ask some question to the students about the application of the topic in
real-life situation. And give some information.
C. Valuing
The teacher will integrate values on the topic that’s been discussed.
IV. EVALUATION
The teacher will give a 15-item quiz.
V. ASSIGNMENT
The teacher will give 20-item quiz about what’s been discussed and 5-item for the next lesson.
ACTIVITY SHEET
I. OBJECTIVES
1. Identify the postulate of the two triangles.
2. State the corresponding angles and sides that prove the congruency of 2 triangle.
3. Compare the differences of 4 congruence postulate.
II. PROCEDURE

1. Follow the task given:

a. Find the corresponding sides.
b. Find the corresponding angles.
c. Identify what triangle congruence postulate or theorem the given triangles.
d. Answer the guide question.

III. CONCEPTS
 SAS Congruence Postulate – if 2sides and an included angle of one triangle are congruent to two sides
and the included angle of another triangle, then 2 triangles are congruent.
 ASA Congruence Postulate – if 2 angles and the included side of 1 triangle are congruent to two angle
and an included side of another triangle, then 2 triangles are congruent.
 SSS Congruence Postulate – if the 3 sides of one triangle are congruent to 3 sides of another triangle, then
2 triangles are congruent.
 SAA/AAS Congruence Theorem – if 2 angle of a triangle and a side of opposite one of its angles are
congruent to two angle triangle a side of the angle of another triangle then the 2 triangles are congruent.
IV. ANSWER THE FOLLOWING
Guide Questions:
1. How did you find the corresponding angles and side of the 2 triangle?
2. How did you classify the given triangles?
3. What is the difference of all the congruence postulate?
