Title of Artifact: Social Issues Assignment
How did completing this assignment
● help you to grow in your understanding of Learning Differences?
o Completing this assignment is going to help me be able to grow and be
better at understanding how differences affect us and the education
system. I can first handedly see how the different social issues impact
students and learning first hand. Being able to converse and discuss the
different social issues and what we all think about them was helpful. I
was able to get other people's views and opinions on the different issues.
We were also able to collaborate and think of ways we could change and
make a difference in education.
● help you to learn how to teach tolerance and acceptance?
o Personally I believe that issues arise and become a problem because of
each individual person, it starts somewhere. If we can help change 1
person at a time then the problem will slowly become less and less. As a
culprit of some of these issues, my start would be to work on myself. It
doesn't take much to be kind, but it takes dedication and time to become
a kind human to all. I will instill that into my classroom from the second
they step in. Little learners do by example and I want to be a good
positive role model for them. I will also not tolerate anything that is
being said in a negative way towards anyone, and have them learn from
mistakes.
● Help you to learn about Humanitarianism and Civic Engagement?
o I was able to write my own experiences about social issues, and then
learn how it affects others in a different way. It helped me realize that
these issues are bigger than just one problem. We saw that it talks a lot
about having a social issue. As well as how it takes a lot of people to
make change and be different. I learned about Civic Engagement by
realizing that what we do affect others and that stops them from having
a great quality of life.

Reflection:
(Explain what you learned from completing this assignment/artifact about social
issues)

I learned alot social issues and the effects it plays in life and the education system
through this assignment. Understanding how not everyone is the exact same and we
shouldn't judge or change who they are. Being able to talk about how these issues arise
and come about. The change that we as people need to do in order to fix these issues.
These different problems are common in education and as future teachers we need to
figure out how we are going to give change. Each student and person should be able to
live their life and enjoy it.
