Vessel navigating and approaching Puerto La Cruz Venezuela. The vessel is about to enter
SCENARIO territorial water, OOW report to the master that the vessel is about to enter territorial water.
Master report to VTS that the vessel is entering the territorial water.
INITIAL CONDITION
1. Obtain the student’s copy of the laboratory assessment.
2. Listen to the basis of the exercise, i.e., STCW regulation and/or competence table
3. Understand the assessment outcome.
4. Understand the laboratory assessment.
5. Listen and comprehend the required performance criteria and performance standards in
CADETS BRIEFING accomplishing the task at hand.
6. Check the initial condition.
7. Confirm the duration of the assessment.
8. Understand the conditions when the assessment exercise will be stopped.
9. Ask the failure state of the laboratory assessment.
10. Raise any question or clarification before proceeding with the laboratory assessment.
1. Assist the distribution of the student’s copy of the laboratory assessment.

Cadet shall be rated as “Not Yet Competent” when any of the following is committed:
1. Earned points is less than 70% ; or
2. Earned points in any of the tasks is lower than the cut-off point; or
FAILURE STATE 3. Assessor stopped the assessment for reasons as stated:
a. When the following is committed during the exercise:
- Horse play
- Unsafe action by the student
Perform the practical activity in a safe manner, following procedures as stated in the
manufacturer’s manual and meeting the requirements as stated in the task, not limited to the
following;
1. Understand the assessment outcomes of the exercise.
2. Create a video presentation of not more than 10 minutes of his/her actual demonstration

performance standards that students were able to accomplish.
3. Identify the weaknesses of the student’s performance by citing the executions which didn’t
CADETS meet the performance standard. Watch the replay the exercise if available.

5. In case you mark “not yet competent” in the performance of the task, ask for
recommendations on how to improve the performance
