Narrative Report on the Orientation

on 5-11 years old COVID VACCINATION
June 21, 2022
The COVID-19 pandemic has shaken the world since early 2020 and its health,
social, economic, and societal negative impacts at the global scale have been
catastrophic. Since the early days of the pandemic, development of safe and effective
vaccines was judged to be the best possible tool to minimize the effects of this
pandemic. Drastic public health measures were put into place to stop the spread of the
virus, with the hope that vaccines would be available soon. Thanks to the extraordinary
commitments of many organizations and individuals from around the globe and the
collaborative effort of many international scientists, vaccines against COVID-19
received regulatory approval for emergency human use in many jurisdictions in less
than a year after the identification of the viral sequence. Several of these vaccines have
been in use for some time; however, the pandemic is still ongoing and likely to persist
for the foreseeable future.

Padre Garcia Central School conducted an orientation on the COVID – 19

vaccination .The orientation was made possible with a short prayer of Ma’am Corazon
Pendo, Master Teacher I and a warm welcome remarks of Ma’am Josephine H. Arnigo,
Principal III. Mrs. Cornelia Shirly Encinares Public Health Nurse of the Department of
Education, discussed via Google Meet about the vaccine.

In the orientation, Nurse Shirley spoke about the objectives of the vaccination program
dubbed, “Resbakuna Kasangga ng Bida” which are to launch a national vaccination
program against COVID 19 and to provide free and effective high-quality vaccines
against SARS-COV-2 prioritizing the most-at-risk and most vulnerable populations. She
also discussed the vaccines already available, the possible post-vaccination reactions
which she called adverse effect following immunization, and shed light on a lot of
questions posed by the audience after her talk. The orientation was participated by
almost 87 parents and guardians from Kindergarten to grade six via google meet.
