Solar Street Lights
There are two types of solar panels commonly used in solar street lights: monocrystalline and polycrystalline. The conversion rate of mono-crystalline solar panels is much higher than their poly-crystalline counterparts. Solar panels also vary in wattage systems. Specifications The spacing between two light poles should be roughly 2.5–3 times the height of the pole. Shorter light poles should be installed at closer intervals. The density, speed of travel, and the type of light source along a corridor will also determine the ideal height and spacing. The average height for a street light pole is between 9 and 14 feet. But there are also smaller ones ranging from 5 to 6.5 feet. These are mainly used in pedestrian areas rather than on roads. To determine the sizing of PV modules, calculate as follows: Calculate the total Watt-peak rating needed for PV modules Divide the total Watt- hours per day needed from the PV modules (from item 1.2) by 3.43 to get the total Watt-peak rating needed for the PV panels needed to operate the appliances A Solar Street Light (LED based) consist of white LED luminary of maximum 12 Watt ( LED + Driver) as per configuration along with solar PV modules and Li-Fe- PO4 battery of given capacity, necessary control electronics-inter connecting wires / cables, module mounting structures etc. to operate the load for dusk to dawn. LITHIUM ION (LI-ION) BATTERY It requires 3.7 V of power to charge these batteries. That means solar panel size can be smaller. During cloudy days, solar panel can continue to generate 3.7 V and these batteries can easily charge Working Solar LED street lights rely on the photovoltaic process, which allows the solar cell to convert sunlight into usable electrical energy. Sunlight is converted when negatively-charged electrons push solar energy into positively-charged spaces in the cells. On average, solar lights last between 1 and 2 years before you need to replace the rechargeable batteries inside the solar light’s panel. This is the equivalent of 300 to 600 continuous charges. The exact amount of time that your solar lights will last depends on the batteries that you use for your solar garden lights.
