Content:

The culture of the Philippines comprises a blend of traditional


Filipino and Spanish Catholic traditions, with influences from
America and other parts of Asia. The Filipinos are family
oriented and often religious with an appreciation for art,
fashion, music and food.

Filipinos are also hospitable people who love to have a good


time. This often includes getting together to sing, dance, and
eat. The annual calendar is packed with festivals, many of
which combine costumes and rituals from the nation’s pre-
Christian past with the Catholic beliefs and ideology of
present day.

Health Risk in our Lifestyle:


1. Eating habits – refers to why and how people eat, which foods they eat, and with whom they
eat, as well as the ways people obtain, store, use, and discard food. Individual, social,
cultural, religious, economic, environmental, and political factors all influence people's eating
habits.

Unhealthy eating habits includes the following:

1. Mindless eating Health risk:


2. Nightime noshing
3. Endless snacking All these  being overweight or obese
4. Skipping breakfast unhealthy  tooth decay
eating habits  high blood pressure
5. Emotional eating
 high cholesterol
6. Eating too quickly could lead to..  heart disease and stroke
7. Eating junk food  type-2 diabetes
 osteoporosis
 some cancers
 depression
 eating disorders.

All the listed health risks above are barriers to physical activities/performance. To avoid, build a
healthy eating habits.
2. Sleeping habits - Your behaviors during the day, and especially before bedtime, can have a
major impact on your sleep. They can promote healthy sleep or contribute to sleeplessness.

Why lack of sleep is not good for your health?


You will experience fatigue
Short temper
Lack of focus that often follow apoor night’s sleep
Makes you feel tired and irritable the next day
After continous sleepless nights, the mental effects become more serious. Your brain will fog, making you
difficult to concentrate and make decisions. You’ll start to feel down, and may fall sleep during the day.
Your risk of injury and accidents at home, work and on the road also increases.
3. Stress management
Stress is a mental or emotional tension or strain resulting from adverse or very demanding
circumtances.
Facts on stress:
Stress helps the body to prepare to face danger
Symptoms can be both physical and psychological
Short-term stress can be helpful, but long-term stress is linked to various health conditions.
Things you can learn to manage stress before it gets to be too much.
Exercise – physical activity can help improve your sleep. Better sleep means better stress
management.

People who exercise also tend to feel less anxious and more positive about themselves. When
your body feels good, your mind often follows. Get a dose of relief with these activities:
 Running
 Swimming
 Cycling
 Aerobics
