I. Concept Notes
 The difference of set B from set A, denoted by A-B, is

the set of all the elements of set A that are not in set B.

 The complement of a set denoted A’, is the set of all

elements in the given universal set U that are not in A.

EXAMPLE

Find the differences of sets A-B and B-A,

where set A= {1,2,3,4} and Set B = {2,3,5,7}

Solution:
It is given that A={1,2,3,4}
B={2,3,5,7} Then,

 A-B = {1,2,3,4} - {2,3,5,7} = {1,4}


 B-A = {2,3,5,7} - {1,2,3,4} = {5,7}
