The National Artist reward and the GAMABA reward is separated because they are different
from one another, The national artist reward is given to the body of work is recognized by their
peers and more importantly by their countrymen as sublime expression of Philippine music,
dance, theatre, visual arts, literature, film and media, arts, architecture and design. The
GAMABA on the other hand is the award for the Creators of The Country, this award is given to
a person or group of artists recognized by the Government of the Philippines for their
contributions to the country's intangible cultural heritage.
