Blythe Dress

The Blythe Dress is a simple and chic turtle neck sweater dress that is perfect for any
capsule wardrobe. Designed to be made in velvet, this little number is cushy, cozy luxury. Wear it
loose for comfort or with a belt for a fitted touch.

SIZING:
Sizing goes by hip measurements. Dress worn with 7-10 inches positive ease. For a
slimmer fit, use size down.
XS (S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X)
Hip measurements in inches: 33- 34 (36- 36, 38- 40, 42- 44, 46- 48, 52- 53, 54 -55, 56- 57, 61- 62)

GAUGE:
2in = 4 sts x 2 1/2 rows dc

MATERIALS:
1000- 1400 yards of Velvet Yarn in bulky weight
Hook: 6.5mm
Tapestry needle

STITCHES USED:
Ch/s: Chain/s
St/s: Stitch/es
Ss: - Slip Stitch
Sk: Skip
Dc: Double Crochet

DESIGN DETAILS:
The dress is made in one long rectangular shape which will have a chain space opening for the neck. The
side seams are sewn together and the sleeves and turtleneck are added last.

DRESS BODY:
Ch 41 (45, 49, 53, 57, 61, 65, 69, 73)

Row 1: Dc into the second ch. Dc in each of next 40 (44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 68, 72) chs, turn.

Row 2: Ch 2 (Counts as dc), dc in next st and in each st till the end, turn.

Repeat row 2 47 more times or until desired length for dress. Turning ch counts as dc.

Row 48: This row will create the opening for neck. Make sure your head fits comfortably through
the ch space opening.
Dc 10 (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18), ch 20 (22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36), sk 20 (22,
24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36) sts, dc in next 10 (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18) sts.

Row 49: *Ch 2, dc in each sts across. Turning ch counts as dc.*

Repeat from * to * 48 (50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60, 62, 64) more times or until the length matches the
other side.

SLEEVES:
Align the bottom corners of your work. Using a tapestry needle, sew up the side seams leaving 6- 6.5,
(6.5- 7, 7- 7.5, 7.5- 8, 8- 8.5, 8.5- 9, 9- 9.5, 9.5- 10, 10 -10.5) inches for sleeve on the wrong side leaving
Cut yarn and weave in ends.

Turn at the end of each row

Round 1: Join the yarn at the top of the side seam under the arm and evenly space 32 (36, 38, 40, 42, 46,
48, 50, 52, 56) dc in the round. Ss into first dc.

Round 2: Ch 2, dc in each sts in the round, ss into second ch to complete round.

Repeat round 2 26 more times or until desired length for sleeve. To have enough length for a cuff,
continue 4 rows past the wrist.

Repeat on other side of the dress body.

NECK:
Join the yarn on the right side of the ch space opening.

Turn after each row.

Round 1: Ch 2, (counts as dc), dc in next 20 (22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36) sts, dc into the
side of row, dc in next 20 (22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36) sts, ss into 2nd ch to complete round.
There will be 42(46, 50, 54, 58, 62, 66, 70, 74) dc.

Round 2: Ch 2, dc in each st in round, ss into 2nd ch to complete row.

Repeat round 2 8 more times or until desired length for turtle neck.

Fasten off and weave in ends.


Block dress according to fiber content.
