Evolve | Level 2 | Influencing for Impact

Pre-work

You would be attending 2 sessions on Influencing for Impact, as part of the “Evolve” program. As a
preparation for this session, we recommend that you complete the pre-work for this session.

Please keep this completed prework sheet with you during the session.

Reflect & capture your responses for 3 recent situations you were involved in to “influence” others
in your work context (either with internal or external stakeholders). The focus of this self-reflection
for individual learning and be on the following points:

a) List the behaviours used &/or demonstrated. Which of these behaviours contributed to the
outcome examples detailed above?
b) What do you think you could have done differently impacting the outcome and what could have
been different in terms of the outcome?

Situations:

1) A situation which you felt you handled well

Oct-21 month is having very high market demand for White cement due to Diwali Season so I
have convinced management with proper working for procuring outside clinker which will not
affect our cement production and mill be continuously run.

For this I have Influence our Unit Head, Commercial Head & CEO.

I have shown proactive behaviour in this situation

2) A situation that could have been handled better

There are so many breakdowns in raw mill-1 in last month and which are continually happening,
cross functional team members told me that they didn’t get opportunity for preventive
maintenance that results in breakdown and I suggested them we don’t have sufficient stock of
material so we cant stop the mill, then after so many discussions ultimately with lower stocks I
have given permission for preventive maintenance.

With proper discussion with CFT team earlier we can avoid this stoppage by giving maintenance
for short period.

3) A situation that you felt uncertain about

Recently we have proposed our project over digitization Infront of REPRISM jury at our plant.

We got very limited time for this (around 1-2 days only). We have done lot of things in this
project, but we were unable to influence panel members, as we were not fully aware about
what they exactly want in digitization project.
