The Dycaico House is considered the Grand dame in the 50s, this home played host to many
celebrations often with live bands held at the rooftop.

RUFINA DAYRIT AND JOSE DYCAICO


The original owners of the Dycaico House are Rufina
Dayrit and Jose Dycaico.

Rufina married Jose Dycaico, a Chinese immigrant


resulting in the building of the Ancestral House in
the year 1930s.

Rufina and Jose had a daughter named Perla
Dycaico and a son named Julian D. Dycaico who
later became a doctor which explains the medical
emblem in front of the house (see slide 6). Dr
Julian married Lourdes Gomez-Dycaico and raised 9
children in the house.

put a medical emblem in the topmost front portion
of the house which is also the balcony of his
clinic Dr Julian Dycaico in honour of him being a
medical allied professional.

Occupants
Rufina and Jose Dycaico and their children are the first occupants of the house. When Rufina and Jose
passed away, Dr Julian Dycaico inherit the house and lived in it together with his family. Their nephews
and niece from Mabalacat who went to Holy Family Academy also stayed with them to cut travel time,
particularly Juliette Gomez who is now the wife of Benjamin Romualdez, Capt. Ben Hur Gomez of omni
aviation, Late Architect Carlos Gomez jr., and Prof. Edgardo Gomez who is now a national scientist of the
Philippines.

In the year 1965 when Dr. Dycaico passed away, his wife, Lourdes Dycaico rented out the downstairs and
stayed at the second floor. one of the tenants is the mother of Liza Lorena and later rented out for
institutional, a preschool and for commercial use, Bank of Florida.

Future
As promised to the late grandfather,
Julian Dycaico Jr., the family doesn't
have any plans to demolish or sell the
property and will be an inheritance to
future generations. According to our
interviewee, Rodrigo Segaya, the
personal bodyguard and caretaker of
the ancestral house for 28 years, the
family will keep their promise to the
late Julian Dycaico jr. and will only
rent out the property as what Mrs.
Lourdes Dycaico did. "Ay Hindi po ma'am, si boss po walang balak po na
ipa-demolish o sirain ang bahay dahil pamana daw
po ito sakanya ni lola..."
