In the past, workers are not so specialised as today.

Specialisation is good as it
brings out the best. Do you agree? Write in at least 250 words.

What comes to mind when the term “specialisation” is mentioned? Pictures of

particular workers doing the same jobs every day will cross one’s minds. Specialisation can
be defined as the focus of labour in specified,

A very good morning to examiners and my fellow friends. I feel that specialisation is
advantageous because mechanisation is enabled. Specialisation is the focus of specific jobs
or tasks. Therefore, machines for specific tasks is created. For example, in a factory, there
are various machines who runs on different department as they have different things to do.
There are machines packaging machine, drilling machines, grinding machines and the list
goes on. With these machines, the workloads of the workers are reduced. This is because
the jobs of these workers had been replaced by these specific machines. The workers have
more time to innovate things that will create for profit for the company. Not only that, but
when these jobs are replaced by these machines, we cannot deny that there will be an
increase of productivity and accuracy in production. As human, we will make mistakes
whereas the machines will have lesser percentage in making mistakes. Therefore, I feel that
specialisation is advantageous to the society because mechanisation is enabled.

I beg to differ Candidate A. I feel that specialisation is advantageous because the efficiency
is increased. When there are specialisation workers and machines, they will be skilful in
doing the tasks. They are trained under professional guidance within a period of time.
Therefore, with their knowledge and experience, they can increase the efficiency of a
company. They are able to accomplish jobs with a minimum expenditure of time and effort.
For example, accountants who are the master in tax and audits will help to increase the
company’s efficiency in handling tax and accounts. This will benefit the company when they
are efficient workers. This is because they can save money by just hiring a smaller amount
of workers but the tasks can be completed in a short time with good quality. Therefore,
efficiency is one of the advantage for specialisation. How about the others?
I would like to change my stance to specialisation is good when division of task is adopted.
In a factory, workers are being divided into different departments. For example, the
production team, the sales team and the project team. They are being divided into different
teams according to their skills and specialities. Therefore, they are all skilfull in their
respective teams. They will be productive as they are familiar and more experienced to the
tasks that were being assigned to them. Sooner or later, the quality of product and
productivity of a company would be increased. This is due to the professional workers in the
teams. Therefore, the division of task is one of the advantage brought by specialisation. How
about the others?

Since time does not permit, I would like to bring this discussion to a close. Factually
speaking, this group does not have a common opinion as there are differing ideas to
the advantages of specilisation. Thus, it is in tandem with the saying “one’s man’s
meat is another man’s poison.”
