Reflective essay

With the completion of the Marketing class, I was able to profit from a range of new

things learned from the course, as well as refresh my memory on items I previously knew but

needed a reminder about.

Time management was for me the largest challenge in the class. Being a chronic

procrastinator, it was and still is difficult for me to turn in assignments on time. Although I

haven't fully solved this issue yet, I have made changes to my life that will help me better

manage my time. I discovered that I could concentrate better on my assignments when I was not

in my dorm room because I frequently play about on the internet or take naps there. I can deal

with procrastination, yet I do not believe I can ever fully overcome it.

Obstacles revealed hidden strengths about myself. I never considered myself a leader, but

because the class used group thinking on multiple occasions, I discovered that I am a good

leader. I express my views to the group while attempting to balance the thoughts of others so that

the group may reach an agreement. Obviously, this will help me no matter what career I choose,

because the ability to take command of a situation while remaining courteous with coworkers is

a great trait to have. I cannot think of any other strength I discovered besides this one. I do not

think of myself as egotistical, but honestly, I am happy with how I am and find it hard to think of

strengths I do not already have.

I learnt how to make a statement work for my side of the argument and how to fight it

convincingly in class debates. I discovered that using more than one source for information is

beneficial since it not only paints a bigger picture, but it also provides me with data or ideas that

I might have overlooked otherwise. I've also found that taking notes during the lecture makes it

simpler to grasp the assignments afterwards and provides a better resource than simply sitting

there listening. Readings and handouts taught me how to read critically and comprehend

information more deeply than simply reading the page. I've learned to be more open to share my

thoughts during class discussion groups rather than keeping them to myself.
