LESSON LOG Teaching Dates Quarter 3
and Time Module 2
I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate an understanding of:
A. Content Standards  Factors that affect climate and the effects of changing climate and how to adopt
accordingly.
The learners should be able to:
B. Performance Standards  Participate in class activities that reduce risks and lessen effects of climate
change.
C. Most Learning
Competencies The learners should be able to:
1. Explain how different factors affect the climate of an area; S9ES-IIIe-30
(MELCSs)/Objectives
2. Describe certain climatic phenomena that occur on a global level; S9ES-IIIf-31
Write the LC code for each

Key Ideas: Act. 7 Getting Ready!
Act. 8 It’s Getting Hot in Here
 Greenhouse gases absorb heat, preventing them from flowing out of the Earth.
Naturally greenhouse gases play an important role in keeping the Earth warm.
The Earth could be very cold if there were no greenhouse gases that absorb heat.
 Global temperatures increases when the amount of greenhouse gases in the
atmosphere increases.
 Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4),
Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC), and Nitrous Oxide (N2O).
 Greenhouse effect happens when there is too much carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere.

Q6. Are humans responsible for changes to our climate?

Q7. Are there any moves to limit global warming?
ASSESSMENT:
Answer the following questions:

1. What are greenhouse gases?

a. Gases that harm the Earth.
b. Gases that humans exhale when they breathe.
c. Gases that help the Earth stay cool despite the sun’s rays.
EVALUATE d. Gases that trap some of the energy leaving the Earth’s surface.
2. Which of the following groups are all greenhouse gases?
a. Carbon dioxide, methane, CFCs, and nitrous oxides.
b. Carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxides, and oxygen.
c. Carbon dioxide, methane, CFCs, and helium.
d. Carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxides, and helium.
3. Which statement best describes the ‘Greenhouse Gas Effect’?
a. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere cause sunlight to scatter so that the sky
appears blue.
b. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere trap the sun’s energy and use it to
warm the Earth.
c. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere lead to air pollution which is harmful to
the environment.
d. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere trap some of the energy leaving the
Earth’s surface, therefore maintaining warm temperatures essential for life
on Earth.
4. Name at least 3 sources of greenhouse gases.

Answer Key:
1. D
2. A
3. D
4. Carbon dioxide (Co2), methane (CH4), chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)
