Experiment No.2
Rate: _________
I. Objective
To determine the grading materials proposed for use as aggregates or being used as aggregates.
Determine compliance of the particle size distribution with applicable specification requirements.
Provide necessary data for control of the production of various aggregate products and mixture
containing aggregates.
II. Theory:
Fineness modulus of coarse aggregates represents the average size of the particles in the coarse aggregate
by an index number. It is calculated by performing sieve analysis with standard sieves.
III. Apparatus
Sieve
Balance or scale
Mechanical sieve shaker
Coarse aggregate sample
Trowel
Brush sieve
IV. Procedure
V. Results
962.12 was the weight of the coarse aggregate that retained.
VII. Conclusion
I conclude that knowing if an aggregates are good to be used in construction of structures
and buildings is that we have to sieve an amount of gravel from coarse down into fine pieces
wherein different sizes will be separated and we will see if the sieved aggregates are well balanced
wherein our graphs with percentage of each sieve size will show which have more and less amount.
Aggregates that are to be used in constructions must consist the different sizes (coarse) because it
will help our structure to be stronger and though.
