Adverse weather conditions – student guidelines

1. The safety and well-being of Assiniboine Community College students is always of


paramount concern.
If a student is unable to reach the campus due to adverse weather or road conditions
please refer to the following guidelines:
- Contact your instructors and notify them that you will be absent as soon as possible
when safe to do so
- It is the student’s responsibility to follow up with the instructor about the missed course
work. Course materials will be available on the moodle course page.
- Snow or ice storm causing highways departments to issue a travel advisory is
considered an excused absence.
- If an excused absence results in a missed test, the test will be rescheduled to another date
as determined by the instructor in consultation with the student

2. The safety and well-being of Assiniboine Community College staff is of paramount concern
as well
If your instructor is unable to reach your campus due to adverse weather or road conditions
please refer to the following guidelines:
- Your instructor will notify you that they will be absent as soon possible or when it is safe
to do
- The instructor will provide you with course materials for the missed class which will be
available on moodle
- If the instructor absence results in a missed test, the test will be rescheduled to another
date as determined by the instructor in consultation with the students

Note – if all of your instructors are unable to reach the campus due to adverse weather or
road conditions, you will be notified by each instructor of the absence and course materials
for their missed classed

Note – Zoom will not be utilized for course delivery or testing for any absences

In the event of Campus Closure – the closure of college buildings and property, in which there is a
cessation of classroom instruction and support services (except those designated by the college),
and students and staff (except those designated as core) are excused from attendance

***A campus closure would be declared by Mark Frison (ACC president) or Suzanne Nicholas (Dean
of the School of Nursing).
