Target Audience

Target Audience: A target audience is a certain and specific group of people that
the media product is aimed at. A target audience is used to help ensure that the
content is appropriate. A target audience supports the producers as then they would
know what to include in order to entertain and attract a particular target audience.
This will help to ensure that the produce sells well and it would bring good press to
their product. A target audience helps define an individual group to interest and
intrigue them in the product.

Demographic: Demographics are a way of categorising an audience into different


groups depending on different characteristics they have. There are four main
focuses for demographics:
● Age
● Gender
● Spending income
● Lifestyle - Lifestyle is different for other people however it mainly includes:
What a person does in their free time/ spare time, hobbies, interests,
backgrounds, cultural backgrounds and political beliefs
This graph shows how people measure income in the United Kingdom and therefore
rank them from A to E.

Target Audience of name of magazine:


Age:
Take A Break has a target
audience with a range of ages that
read their magazine. According to
the media pack, these ages range
from 18 to 80 years old. However,
most of the common readers are
aged 25 to 51 years old.

Gender:
Most of the people that read Take
A Break magazine are known to
be women as 1.2 million of
readers between the ages of 25
to 51 years of age are Mums to
children. Take a Break is known
as a focal point for females.

Lifestyle:
Take A Break is for the people
who like to learn more about their
favourite hobbies and interests meaning they will enjoy the magazine. Things
included in Take A Break magazines are gossip including different topics. By putting
this in a magazine it would cause curiosity and intrigue and create more readers.
Take A Break includes things like: a mix of real life, fashion, beauty, food, home,
travel and even competitions. All these articles in the magazine create an attraction
to read them. Most women that read Take A Break are mums that have a busy
schedule so when they have time they like to relax and have time for themselves.

Spending Power:
The Take A Break magazine media pack does not include the spending power that
readers have. However, as they have a variety of different ages reading the
magazine so their social grades would be a mix of all: A, B, C1, C2, D and E
meaning that there is a group of different social status’ reading.The content of the
magazine does not restrict certain social groups either.
