Speaking lesson Plan

Aim: To practice present continuous – Positive, Negative and Question (Yes/No/wh-)

Presentation (3-5 mins)


Lead in: T : what do you like doing in your free time?
What are you doing now?
T acts and ask ( look at me and then tell me what am I doing?)
Teacher mime ( running/ swimming) T asks what am I doing?
- You are swimming.
- You are running.
T drills in positive, Negative and Question (Yes/no and wh-q).

Practice
Task 1: Controlled practice (10 mins) (louth)
Instructions:
1. Give the students the handout.
2. Get the students to read the instructions
3. Teacher explains “look at the sentences on the worksheet and then rewrite the sentences to make
them true about you” and give example ( make the sentence negative & then provide the correct
answer)
4. Check the instructions
5. Teacher tells “I give you 3 minutes to do this task”

1. I am studying Japanese. I am not studying Japanese. I am studying English.


2. The teacher is sleeping.
3. We are wearing blue shirt.
4. I am wearing shorts.
5. We are eating lunch
6. It is snowing outside.
6. Teacher monitors
7. When students finish writing, get them to find a partner and tell each other.
8. Get two students about themselves to the class.
Task 2: Less Controlled practice (15 mins)
Instructions:
1. Get the students to work in pair. Look at the pictures and the conversation 1
2. Teacher explain: I’d like you to look at the pictures and try to complete the conversation.
3. Picture 1: A: What are Sarak, Tola, and Bopha doing?
B: They’re singing a song?
A: What song are they singing?
B: Hope.
4. I give to 4 minutes to think to make suitable question and answer. You can take note down if you
want.
5. Now I’d like you to work in pair to act the dialogues out.
6. Open pair as model
7. Close pair

Production (5-7mins)
Instructions:
1. I’d like you to work in pair A & B. Indicate the students A & B quickly.
2. Imagine that you are at the beach. Call your friend and tell him/her what you can see and what are
you and other people doing?
Describe the scene
Ex: Hello! Borath, How are you? I’m having a good time. It’s a very good day today at the beach.
The sun is shining. The wind is blowing gently. Some children are swimming …….
3. Check instructions
4. Tell: I give you 3 mins
5. Now A close your eyes and tell B
6. Ok, stop! Now B close your eyes and tell A
7. Get one students to talk in front of class
Closure: (4-5 mins)
Instructions:
1. Now imagine that you are at the beach
2. Write 5 sentences about what you can see and what you and other people are doing?
3. Check
4. Tell: You have 4 minutes
5. Teacher monitors to check if the students are working
6. The lesson comes to the end. Thank the students for working hard !
