(Unsolicited Proposal)
As a Graduate School student at Adamson University I am pleased to submit this proposal for the
construction of a covered footbridge in San Marcelino Street from ST Building to SV Grounds. This is to
ensure the safety of pedestrians and students in crossing the busy street. Through this footbridge,
traffic-related accidents will be substantially reduced and this will provide easy and convenient access
across SV and ST Building. The proposed total amount for the proposed covered footbridge
construction is P11, 593,250.00 VAT. inclusive.
Project Background
From the Metro Manila Reporting and Analysis System (MMRAS) Annual Report of 2018, a grand total
of 5,042 were involved in vehicle-hitting-pedestrian accidents, and 142 of which resulted in death.
With this alarming issue of road safety, measures to protect pedestrians take the highest precedence.
Adamson University, being within a very busy street like San Marcelino Street is very prone to such
danger. Adamsonians use the San Marcelino Street multiple times a day making the risk of accident
very high. Therefore, a need for an alternative access is needed to reduce the use of the road.
Project Objective
This project’s objective to ensure the safety of all Adamsonians from any vehicular accidents by
providing safe access and passage from across San Marcelino Street. The proposed covered footbridge
will also, provide ease and faster access eliminating the waiting time for the already installed traffic
lights.
The proposed project will also serve as a physical connection between the SV ground and SV building
that is separated by the San Marcelino Street, thus creating a sense of oneness in all Adamson
University grounds and properties.
Project Scope
This proposed project is to construct a footbridge that will serve as access across San Marcelino Street
connecting SV and ST Building. The access will be from the second floor of ST building going to the SV
Grounds, just above the guardhouse. The footbridge will be prefabricated using steel and I-beams as
structural members to be readily installed on site. The sidewalls of the bridge will be made of thick
transparent fiberglass and will be aesthetically installed. The bridge will be covered by a roof made of
stainless steel sheets to provide protection from the elements. It will be adequately lighted inside and
outside. It will also be installed with CCTV cameras for monitoring and protection. The expected
construction duration is 3 months.
