I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

 Describe how energy is transformed from one form to

another
 Appreciate the different energy transformations
 Manipulate objects to describe energy transformation
A. Content The learners demonstrate understanding of how energy is

Review Strategy: Gamification
Activity Name: 4 pics 1 word
Time: 3 minutes

Instruction: Guess the answer based on the images provided.

 How do these different types of energy benefit you?

ENGAGE Strategy: Guided Discussion

Activity Name: Peek-a-Box
Time: 5 minutes

Instruction: Show the pupils a mystery box. The students must

guess the object hidden inside the box by drawing their answer in
a clear sheet of paper.

Mystery
Box

Comprehension Check:
1. What is the energy source of the flashlight?
2. What energy is present in the battery?
3. What energy is shown when the flashlight was turned on?
4. How many energies were displayed by the flashlight?
5. Which comes first, Light Energy or Chemical Energy?

EXPLORE Strategy: Differentiated Instruction

Time: 5 minutes

Instruction: The teacher will divide the class into 4 groups. Each
group will observe the particular object/situation that is assigned
to them and later they will answer the questions asked by
presenting it in the class.

Group 1- Tick Tock on the Clock

Group 2- Cool me Down
Group 3- Hot Jog
Group 4- Light it Up!

Standards:
1. Each group will have 3 minutes to observe the
object/situation assigned to them.
2. If ever the 3-minute mark starts, everyone must participate
to fulfill the essence of the activity.
3. During the observation, write what you have observed in a
1 whole sheet of paper.
4. After the observation process, every group will
present/report their observation in the class for 1 minute
per group.

EXPLAIN Strategy: Discussion

Activity Name: Let’s go, Let’s Learn!
Time: 10 minutes
Ask the following questions.

1. What energy change occurs in the:

G1- FUNCTIONING CLOCK

G2- RUNNING ELECTRIC FAN
G3- JOGGING IN PLACE
G4- LIGHTED BULB

2. How is the transformation of energy being present in the

activity?

The teacher will show picture of a Tuna (main product of

General Santos City) that serves as the energy source.

Ask: What energy transformation is shown in the picture?

EXPLAIN  Energy Source- refers to the energy that becomes the

basis or the source of energy before proceeding to the
process of energy transformation.
 Transformed Energy- is the energy that goes through the
process of transformation form one form to another.

Transformed
Object Energy Source
Energy

Flashlight
Chemical Light Energy

Electric Fan Mechanical energy

Windmill Mechanical Energy

*The students must give their own examples.

Figure 1: Illustration of Energy Transformation

Example of Energy Transformations

Energy Transformation- Energy Transformation,
also known as energy conversion, is the process of
changing energy from one form to another.

Mechanical Energy to Sound Energy

When you pluck the strings of the guitar, the strings

vibrate, and sound is produces.

Chemical Energy to Light Energy

When you lighted a lamp or candle, the chemical

energy of the lamp is changed into light energy, and
at the same time, heat is produced.

Mechanical Energy to Electrical Energy

When the wind moves, it directly make the windmills operational

which also transform to electrical energy.

Heat Energy to Light Energy

The Sun transforms nuclear into heat and light energy.

Chemical Energy to Mechanical Energy

Our bodies convert chemical energy in our food into mechanical

energy for us to move.

Relationship of Conservation of Energy and Energy

Transformation

Law of Conservation Energy- states that energy

can neither be created nor destroyed. It may only
transform from one form to another. The total
amount of energy remains the same.

Example:
1. Riding a Bicycle
2. Riding in a Swing
ELABORATE Strategy: Oral Questioning
Activity Name: Now you know
Time: 5 minutes

Generalization:
1. What is Energy Transformation?
2. What is Law of Conservation Energy?
3. Given that the food (Chemical Energy) is essential, how
does the Energy Transformation fulfill your duties and
responsibilities as a student of DWCES?
EVALUATION A. Fill in the blank with the correct word or group of words.

1. The change of energy from one form to another form is

called ____________.

2. The energy of the sun is changed to _______________ of

plants during photosynthesis.
3. The ___________________ of food is turned to
mechanical energy of the muscles when one works.
4. During energy transformation, ________________ is
always produced.
5. The mechanical energy of running water and windmill is
changed into _________________ in the power plant.

B. Complete the concept map below.

Radiant Energy of the Sun

is changed to
_________________ of the wind

which gives
_________________ of the water

which operates the

Hydroelectric Power of Plants

To produce

which is transformed into

____________ ____________ ____________ ____________

of electric fan ____________ ____________ ____________
of bulb of electric iron of TV
