Good day! How are you today? Are you fine? I hope so.

Since we are in condition of undergoing safety

measures because of the pandemic caused by COVID 19,
you can’t come to school yet to study. You are required to stay
home until such time that everything is alright.
The Department of Education thought of a way on how you will
continue your studies even you’re at home. This Self Learning Kit is designed
to teach you in my absence. Here, be your own teacher.
This SLK is composed of some important parts like preliminary activity,
discussion, assessment activities, and evaluation. All these parts will lead
you in attaining the day’s lesson smoothly. You are given one week to absorb
the lesson in this SLK. It is very important for you to understand what it asks
you to do. Please be honest in answering the questions. If at times that you
need a help, you can ask the members of your family to help you or you can
contact me in our Group Chat. As your teacher, I am always ready to assist

Today, you will study about the different health

appraisal procedures and their importance to
us.

Health Appraisal is a process of determining the total health status of child. It is

usually conducted by a School Physician and a School nurse and sometime the
class adviser.
Health Appraisal is very important because it provides the teachers ideas if the pupil
is fit to participate in the school programs.
It also gives the teacher ideas whether they need to modify school activities
so pupils could benefit from it.

The following are the Health Appraisal Procedures.

1. HEIGHT AND WEIGHT MEASUREMENT-

Measuring height and weight shows whether you are growing well.

Height taking gives you an idea about your growth

rate. You are stunted if your height is too low for
your age. It is measured in feet and inches or in
centimetres.

Weight taking keeps you aware if you are within
your ideal weight. If you don’t meet the prescribe
weight of your age, you are wasted. You can get it
in pounds or kilograms.

1. BREAST SELF-EXAMINATION FOR GIRLS

3. VISION SCREENING

Keeps you informed of your

visual activity. We use the
Snellen Chart for this test.

4. SCOLIOSIS TEST-
Keeps you informed of any abnormal
curvature of your spine. Early detection can
prevent Scoliosis from progressing.
This can be confirmed by taking the x-ray
of the entire spine, looking from front to back.

5. Dental Exam.

These health appraisal procedures are very important because with its result you
can detect the possible health problems.

School. She later applied fluoride to their teeth.

Remember that your health status is determined with the

different Health Appraisal Procedures and that includes the test
of your eyes, ears, breast, teeth, and your back. Your weight and
height must be measured also. With this, possible health
problems will be addressed.
These procedures must be conducted regularly to monitor
the progression.
If you notice something unusual in your body, inform your
parents or teachers right away.

An Oral and Dental check-up was scheduled in your school as a part of the
One Health Week of the OK sa DEPED Program. Your friend Chelsy did not come
to school because she is afraid of the dentist. One day, she suffered from
