DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 7

CONTENT STANDARD
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of geometry of shapes and sizes,
and geometric relationships.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD
The learner is able to create models of plane figures and formulate and solve accurately
authentic problems involving sides and angles of a polygon

Learning Competency
Illustrates a circle and the terms related to it: radius, diameter chord, center, arc, chord,
central angle, and inscribed angle. M7GE-IIIg-1

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to get 75% proficiency of the
following:
A. Illustrate a circle and the terms related to it: radius, diameter chord, center, arc, chord,
central angle, and inscribed angle.
B. Appreciate the importance of a circle and relate it to real life situations, and
C. Draw parts of the circles and solve a problem on circle.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Teachers Activity Students Activity

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Cleanliness
Before we start, please arrange your
chairs and pick up the pieces of papers. The students will arrange their chairs and
pick up pieces of papers
2. Prayer and greetings

Yes, Mario?
Good morning, Ma’am!
Good Morning class!

You may take your seats.

3. Checking of Attendance

Is everybody present today?
Very good!

4. Participate in the class

Very good!
I will expect you to follow those
rules as we go through our discussion.

B. Review

Let us start by recalling our lesson

last time.

Take a look with this figure

1.) Polygons
1.) What do you see in the picture? 2.) 3, triangle
2.) How many sides is the first
3.) 4 sides quadrilateral
figure? Can you name the polygon?
4.) 5 sides, pentagon
3.) How about the 2nd figure?
5.) 6 sides hexagon,
4.) How about the 3rd figure?
6.) 7 sides heptagon,
5.) And the 4th one?
7.) 8 sides octagon,
6.) The 5th one?
8.) 9 sides nonagon, 10 sides, decagon
7.) How about the 6th figure?
The 7th? And the last figure?

It seems that you do understand

now our previous lesson.

C. Motivation

Now, take a look with this figure,

class.

None, Ma’am!

Question: No, Ma’am!

1. How many sides are there in the
figure? CIRCLE, Ma’am!
2. Is this a polygon?
3. What do you think this figure
called?

Very good Rommy!

D. Lesson proper
Given this figure,

Circle Ma’am, because if it’s not circle,

the car will not move.

What shape do you think will complete

the image? Why?

Very well said, Jayvin!

So, our new lesson for today is about (the student will read the objectives)
Circle. Before we go on, let us first get to
know our learning objectives for today. OBJECTIVES:
Please read the following objectives.
At the end of the lesson, 75% of
the students are expected to get 75%
proficiency of the following:
A. Illustrate a circle and the terms
related to it: radius, diameter
chord, center, arc, chord, central
angle, and inscribed angle.
B. Appreciate the importance of a
circle and develop cooperation
within the group, and
C. Draw parts of the circles and solve
a problem on circle.

Let’s now define what is a circle. Circle is

the set of all points that are the same distance
from a fixed point. Please take note class that
a circle is named by its center.

Based on that definition, who can draw a

Circle in the Board?
Yes, Roland?

Thank you ,Roland to your

perfect circle.
Let’s now discuss one by one the
terms that are related to circle.
Parts of a Circle
1. What is a Center?
The given point from which all
points on a circle are the same distance.
2. What is a Circumference?
The distance around the edge of
a circle. A line segment whose endpoints are on
3. What is a Radius? the circle.
Distance from the center to any It is chord that passes through
point of circumference. the center of a circle. It is the longest
chord of a circle and it is twice the length
4. What is a Chord? of the radius of a circle.

5. What is a Diameter? A line that intersects the circle in two

different points.
A line which touches a circle at
just one point.
6. What is a secant?
It is a portion of the circumference of a
circle.
7. What is a tangent? A circular sector or circle
sector (symbol: ⌔), is the
8. What is an Arc? portion of a disk enclosed by
two radii and an arc.
The segment of a circle is the region
9. What is a Sector? bounded by a chord and the arc.

center of my life.
G. Values Integration

life?

How about the others?

Very well said, Marie!

Let our God be the center of our life. And
we should not forget God because He is
the source of everything

H. Evaluation

Okay class. Bring out 1 whole sheet of paper

and all you have to do is to answer the
question.

A.
1. Name each radius.
2. Name each chord.
3. Name each tangent.
4. Name each diameter.
5. Name each secant.

B. Direction: Draw your own circle and

illustrate the following:

1. Center A
2. Chord QR
3. Diameter DE
4. Radius AC
5. Tangent OB
