TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES PUPIL’S ACTIVITIES

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
Everybody! open your camera and let’s
start our day with a prayer. Noraine, can (Pupils will pray)
you please lead us for a prayer.

2. Classroom Management
Good morning class! Good morning Sir, good morning classmates it’s
nice to see you again.
Everybody! raise all your hands and shake it!
Okay, put it down. Can you properly hear me? (pupils give a thumb up)
Can you see me? Please show me a thumbs up.

Okay! For our online classroom rules.

(enumerate the Online Classroom Rules)

3. Attendance
Let me check your attendance using Google “Okay Sir.”
attendance.

Alright, nobody is absent, very good! so let’s

give ourselves a big three claps!!!

4. Review Last meeting, we discussed about polygons.

Who can recall on what we had discussed last
meeting? Yes, Yesha?
Polygons are plane figure formed by three or
What are polygons? Jay -R! more segments such that each segment intersects
with exactly two others and no segments with a
common endpoint are collinear

Very Good!
Who can give examples of polygons?
Yes, Ehralin? The examples of polygons are Triangles,
Quadrilaterals, Pentagon, Hexagon, Heptagon,
Octagon, Nonagon, Decagon and etc.
Very Good!

5. Motivation

This morning we will discuss another lesson

but before we will proceed to our proper
discussion let us have first an activity. I will
divide the class into two teams.

Okay! I have here the list of members of Team

A and Team B. I will put it in our chat box so
that you can see your teammates. “Yes Sir.”
Do you know now your teammates?
“Yes Sir.”
Okay, are you familiar with the game
“SCAVENGER HUNT”?

The instruction is you will bring the objects

that I will ask from you and anyone from the
group who can show to me the object, will get
one point. The first team to get 3 points will be “Okay Sir.”
the winner and each member will get plus 5
points in our activity.

Are you ready? “Yes Sir!!!”

Objects to bring:
 Five peso coin
 Ring (Pupils provide the objects)
 Tape
 Bracelet
 Bottle cap

The winner is..... Thank you for your

cooperation class!

From the activity that we have done what do

you think is our lesson for today? Anyone? ( Jazerlyn is raising her hand)

Yes Jazerlyn?
Jazerlyn: I think it’s about circles Sir.
Very good, so our topic for today is all about
circles, but before we discuss that, let me ask
you this question.
(Pupils give their answers)
“What is the world without Circle?”

Okay! Based on your answers, the world

without a circle is a mess, because if there were
no circles, what would a ball game be like?
What would be the shape of the wheel?
planets? (show pictures).

If you think about all of these, you would find

that circles are an important thing in our life.

B. Presentation
Okay! Let’s start now to discuss circle and its
parts
Let’s discuss first what a circle is. Anyone who
has idea if what a circle is? Yes Ashly?
Ashly: For me, a circle is a perfectly round
shape.
Okay very good! That is one of the definitions
of a circle.

In other words, a circle is the set of all points in

a plane that are the same distance from a fixed
point called the center.

I have here a circle, what do you see inside the

circle? Yes Joshua?
Joshua: I can see a point and letter located at
the center of the circle.

Okay, there is a point at the center of the circle,

this point is called the center or the central
point. Circles are named through their central
point. So, what is the name of this circle?
Pupils: Circle A Sir.
Very good!

Now we will study the parts of the circle.

First is the radius. What is a radius?
Pupils: a line segment from the center of the
circle to any point on the circle
If we write B on the other
end of the radius then we
have now segment AB as
the radius of circle A. .A

All radii in a circle have

equal length. Radii is the
plural form for radius. (The pupils draw a radius in their mini board.)
B
Illustrate the radius using
your white board! Pupil: a line segment joining two points on the
circle.
The next part of a circle is chord. What is a
chord?

(The pupils draw a chord in their mini board.)

We have segment BC as
an example of a
chord.

Can you now illustrate a chord on your own?

The other part of a circle is diameter. What is a

diameter?

Yes Cathy?
Cathy: a chord that connects two points on the
circle and passes through the center of the
circle.
If we write D and E at the endpoints of the
diameter then we have segment DE as the
diameter of circle A.

A diameter divides the circle into two equal

parts. Also, the measurement of the diameter is
twice the measurement of the radius.

Let’s say, the radius of circle A is 4 cm how

long is the diameter of the circle? Yes Regilyn?
Regilyn: The diameter is 8 cm Sir.
Very good!

Everybody! Illustrate the diameter using your (The pupils draw a chord in their mini board.)
white board!

The next is Central angle. What is central

angle?

Yes Pink? Pink: Central angle is angle form by two Radii

and whose vertex is on the center of circle.

BE
There are two radii in
the circle, AB and AC and it forms angle
which is angle BAC.
Notice that the vertex of angle is on the center
of circle.
Raven illustrates the central angle.
Who wants to illustrate a central angle? Yes
Raven?
Pupil: an angle whose vertex is on the circle
The last part of circle is the inscribed angle.
What is an inscribed angle?

What are the two segments on the circle?

Dave: Segment CB and segment CD.

Yes Dave?

Segment CB and CD form an inscribed angle.

Notice that the vertex is on the circle. The
angle which forms is angle BCD. Carla illustrates the central angle.

Who wants to illustrate a central angle? Yes

Carla?
Pupils: None Sir.

So these are the parts of the circle. Any

questions? Clarifications?

C. Application

“To further enhance your knowledge, let’s do a

group activity.”

I have here a problem: An electronic and

communication engineer designed a circular
disk to be put up in a
call center building.
Before he installs the
disk, he let his men
check the disk and its C
parts. Supposed, I am
the engineer and you
are my working men,
what are now the parts of the circular disk?
Identify the radius, chord, diameter, central and
inscribed angle given
the figure.

T
Angelyka: As a recap, a circle is the set of all
points in a plane that are the same distance
from a fixed point called the center.
D. Generalization

So, let us have now a recap!

What is a Circle?
The parts of a circle are center or central point,
Yes Angelyka? radius, diameter, chord, central angle and
inscribed angle.

Excellent Angelyka! (Pupil give his/her answer)

What are the parts, or the terms related to a
circle? Pupils: Yes, Sir.

Yes, Natalie?

Very good, Natalie!

How important is circle in our life?

Are you now ready for a test?

IV. EVALUATION

1. Draw a circle with a center B, with two diameters namely, segments AC, and DF, whose
chords are AC, DF, CF, and DG, and name central angle and inscribed angle.

V. ASSIGNMENT
