PURPOSE
This assignment aims to encourage students to explore and apply general concepts and
principles pertaining to reading skills in ESL.

PART I

QUESTION 1: ESSAY (20%)


Read the following scenario:

Your class cannot read proficiently.


You need to improve your students ’abilities to read quickly because they will be facing a
centralised examination at the end of the year.
What is the best way for you to achieve this?

Write an essay to discuss the above scenario.

Task Requirements
1. The essay must include the following:
a) Introduction (4 marks)
b) Main Points (6 marks)
c) Conclusion (4 marks)
d) Organisation & Mechanics (3 marks)

2. Supplement and enhance your arguments with the latest literature on the subject.
