Topic: Media-Based Arts and Design in the Philippines

Value to be Integrated: APPRECIATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE

Value Concept:
Appreciation of cultural heritage means that a person knows how to recognize the importance of
cultural traditions, artifacts, expressions, and values of the Philippines. The topics in this
lesson will mostly tackle and focus on the different contributions of each artist has in the
different fields of arts by showing how Filipino people live their everyday lives through their art
pieces.

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

A. Realize that Filipino ingenuity is distinct, exceptional, and on a par with global standards;
B. appreciate their own cultural heritage; and
C. create any logo that would showcase their Filipino Ingenuity trait.

Content Standards
Art elements and processes by synthesizing and applying prior knowledge and skills.

Performance Standards
Create artworks using available media and natural resources on local topics, issues, and concerns
such as environmental advocacies, ecotourism, and economic and livelihood projects.

A. Preparatory Activities/Preliminary Activities

The teacher will begin class by greeting the whole class and asking about their well-being. This
will be followed by a brief ecumenical prayer and an attendance check.

Title: My Artist

Directions: The students will write the name of their favorite Filipino artist inside the frame and
draw their most liked pieces of that artist.

Processing Questions:

1. Who did you choose as your top favorite artists and why?
2. Why did you chose this specific piece/art work of the artist?
3. What should you do for these artists and their artworks and why?
4. How will you show your appreciation to the Filipino artists and their works?

C. Lesson Proper

Filipino Ingenuity
The word "ingenuity" means inventiveness, Filipinos are renowned for being inventive
and resourceful in their daily lives, regardless of the circumstances they are in.

The teacher will then show an example through a video of how can a Filipino be inventive or
innovative with the resources that are available to them.

2005.
Laurice Guillen
is a female
Filipino actor
and director in
the Philippines
who is in the
Laurice Guillen field of
Film,TV,Stage
and Radio and
her career as a
director began
with her first
film Kasal in
1979 together
with Hilda
Koronel and
Christopher de
Leon.
Print Media is a famous
furniture
Advertisement designer from
s Cebu began his
career in 1987
Kenneth Cobonpue after completing Carousel
his degree in
Industrial Design
at the Pratt
Institute in New
York. Since
1969, when he
began managing
Interior Crafts of
the Islands, Inc.,
he has won

design

from Graphic Arts

Mars Ravelo

He is referred to
as the "King of
Komiks." Ravelo's
works, such as
Darna, Dyesebel,
Captain Barbell,
and Lastikman,
were adapted into
films that
enthralled
Filipinos for
generations.

will create a poster that promotes the Filipino ingenuity and Creativity of these Filipino artists.
