Procedure:
Learning Episode 1:
A. Motivation
1. Today, we will learn how to determine various social, moral, and economic issues discussed in the
text listened to.
2. It is important to learn on how to determine various social, moral, and economic issues discussed in
the text listened to help you understand issues or condition associated with difficult decisions and
disagreements that needs to be addressed within a community, a society or a nation.
3. At the end of the lesson, each of you can determine various social, moral, and economic issues
discussed in the text listened to.

Note to the teacher: During the motivation: presentation, importance, and formative assessment, the teacher will call
and ask the students for them to clearly understand the lesson.

B. Probe and Respond


Drill

What comes into your mind when you hear the word “issue”? Write words as many as you can that relates to the word
“issue”. Write your answers on the bubble map.

ISSUE
Issue - is an important problem or topic that people in the society argue about or discuss since it negatively
affects many people in the society. It could be a social, moral, or economic issue.

Learning Episode 2: Modeling

Common issues in the society:

A. Social Issues - are issues that influence many citizens in a society. It is a group of common problem in
present-day society and ones that many people strive to solve.

Other Examples: Teenage Pregnancy, Child Labor, Bullying


B. Moral issues - are situations or actions that do not conform to the shared norms and values, culture, and
beliefs distinguished by a certain community or social setting.

Moral - is concerned with the principle of right and wrong behavior and the goodness or badness of human character.
C. Economic issues - are situations that reflect the scarcity of resources which are deemed insufficient to satisfy
human wants and needs.
I do:

I will show to you a video about a social issue here in our country.

The issue that is presented in the video is drug addiction. It is a chronic, relapsing disorder characterized by
compulsive drug seeking and use despite adverse consequences. Some reasons why people engage into use of drugs is
for self-medication and escape especially to those who have to cope with the symptoms of depression, anxiety, or
other mental health disorders to “numb out”.

We do:

Determine the moral issue discussed in the video presented.

The issue that is presented in the video is abortion. It is a procedure to end a pregnancy. Some women chose abortion
because of their inability to provide for a baby.
You do:

Determine the economic issue discussed in the video presented.

1. Why is it important that we need to know the issues here in our country?
2. How can you help to solve this kind of issues?

Values Integration:
Being aware of the social, moral and economic issues here in our country awakens us individual and help take
action on it. It enables a person to consider the perspective of others and understand their needs. We need to educate
ourselves more in order for us not to experience.

Directions: Listen to the video presented and determine the issues presented. Write in on a ¼ sheet of paper.
Assignment
Directions: On a ½ crosswise, choose one (1) issue in your community whether it is social, moral or economic issue,
then, identify its causes and effects.
