I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the students are able to:

a. define social, moral, and economic issues;

b. distinguish the differences of social, moral, and economic issues and how it affects our lives; and
c. make a slogan about the chosen issue.

SOCIAL ISSUES

• The issue involves people in the society.

• The public, as a whole, recognizes the situation as a problem.

• A large segment of the population sees the situation as a valid concern.

• The situation can be alleviated through the joint actions of the citizens.

MORAL ISSUES

are situations or actions that do not conform to the shared norms and values, culture, and beliefs
distinguished by a certain community or social setting.

An issue becomes a moral issue under the following circumstances:

• It is against the values, beliefs, and preferences of the people in the society.

• It involves behavior patterns that bring the individual repeatedly into conflict with the society.

• It involves actions which have the potential to harm others or the persons themselves.

ECONOMIC ISSUES

are situations that reflect the scarcity of resources which are deemed insufficient to satisfy human
wants and needs.

An issue becomes an economic issue under the following circumstances:

• It involves inflation or the increase of price of basic commodities and services affecting a large number
of people.

• It involves an increase of unemployment or not having a job to earn ones living.

 • It involves poverty caused by underlying factors such as lack of education, cultural and religious
discrimination, overpopulation, unemployment and corruption.

C. GENERALIZATION
The teacher will ask the following questions:

1. What is social, moral, and economic issue?

2. What is the importance of understanding and knowing the social, moral, and economic issues?

D. APPLICATION

The learners will identify if the given pictures or problems belong to social, moral or economic
issues. After they identify the picture, they will explain how they come up with their answer.

IV. EVALUATION
The students will make a slogan about their chosen issue (social, moral, and economic issues).

Direction: The class will be divided into 4 groups. Each group shall have art materials; including bond
paper, pencil, marker, and coloring materials. The task of each group is to make a slogan suggesting
solutions to the given issue picked by them as a group. They will assign a member or representative to
present their final output.

Rubrics:

Relevance to the theme 20 points

Originality 15 points
Creativity 10 points
Color harmony and Visual Impact 5 points

TOTAL: 50 points
