A four nation study investigated country differences in judgments of facial expression.


Specifically, whether participants’ judgments of happiness and sadness is influenced by
background expressions (happy, neutral, sad). Participants rated on all stimuli presented.
The table below provides you with information on the variables in this study.

Research questions:

a. Do those who obtained different overall grades (degree classification) have different
quality of relationship (intimacy, passion, commitment, and trust)? Test the DVs
simultaneously.

b. Categorized partner’s infidelity scores to two categories where more than 49 is


doubtful and 49 and below is non-doubtful. Does quality of relationship (intimacy,
passion, commitment, and trust) together predicts one’s perception of partner’s
infidelity.

c. A researcher thinks that exam anxiety mediates the relationship between hours spend
revising and exam performance. Explain to a layperson, what does the researcher
meant by this statement.
