III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activity
Teacher’s Activity Learner’s Activity
Good morning Class? Good morning Teachers.
Take your seats. Thank you sir.
B. Lesson Proper
a. Review
For now while we are proceeding you might
as well recall the terms we had because we
will be dealing with them again to this next
topic.
Clear! Yes sir.

Moving on, we have here our lesson

objectives.
At the end of the lesson you should be able
to:
a. describe the distance vs time graph
b. explain the meaning of the line in the
graph
c. draw the distance vs time graph of a
given illustration.

b. Motivation

But before we go deeper into that, you will

be having first an activity to let us know
how far you know about our lesson for
today.
(The teacher grouped the class into 4 and (The groups are doing the activity).
distributed the activity).
Try to complete the table by solving the
speed. After then you relate your results to
the graph besides it.
Meaning after solving you describe the
graph basing in the table you completed. Yes sir.
Clear?

(The groups will be given five minutes to

finish the task).
It seems that everybody is done so you
hold your work for a while because we will
be checking that while we are having our
discussions.
Will that be ok?

c. Presentation
Now then let’s have the distance vs time
graph.
Distance vs time graph is the basic form of
motion graphs meaning it is the simplest
type of graphing motion
Use to describe the motion of an
Next statement, who wants to read this? object.
Yes.
Yes, very good.
So, meaning we are to describe or say
something about the motion of an object
basing on the graph it shows, like is the
object at rest, having a constant speed or is
it speeding.
So, these are actually the some terms we Use to find the location of an object.
use to describe motion.

Next to read?
Thank you, so meaning in a certain graph
of motion we are able to locate the distance
of the object in a certain time.
Let’s say for example.
4 meters
(The teacher shows an illustration)
Basing on this illustration, in a certain time
of 1 second what is the distance of letter 4 meters
A?
Very good.
How about Letter C? What is the position of Use to calculate the speed of an
an object C within 5 seconds? object.
Good!

Next, another reader?

Correct. Later on we are to try solving for
the speed of an object basing in the graph.
Now for you to understand more, I have
here an illustration. Yes sir.
With this illustration you shall be able to
describe the graph of an object.
Clear!
Good.
(The teacher discusses each graph
presented in front after then the answers Yes sir.
now of the groups) None sir.
Are clear now on how to describe the graph
of motion using the distance vs time graph?
Any clarifications?

If none let’s have an example then on how

to graph using the distance vs time graph.
(The teacher shows an illustration about
the position of the moving car for the same
time intervals)
Now, before we are going to graph this one
we must make a table out of it.
Distance(m Time(s) Speed(s=d/
) t)
What are our distances on the picture? 0 0 0
10 1 10m/s
How about our times? 20 2 10m/s
Very good. 30 3 10m/s
After that we now need to solve for the 40 4 10m/s
speed of the object to easily describe its 50 5 10m/s
graph.
Again going back to our speed, we solve
speed by dividing the distance with time.
Very good (The class answers the speed
orally) The object is moving with the same
speed.
Now that we have the value for our speed,
what can you say now about the speed of
the object? The graph will also be constant.
Correct! now since it is traveling at the
same speed we may now say that the
object is in constant motion.
What will be the graph?
Ok then let’s try to prove it.

Now in graphing we designate distance for

the vertical line and for time we use the Yes sir.
horizontal line. in our scale we use the
numbers 1,2,3,4,5 and so on while for
distance we use 10,20,30,40,50 and so on.
Clear?
Good.
Now in numbering your graph make sure
that your numbers have the same
distances. After then you now plot the
values to form a line.

The graph is constant.

What can you say now about the graph of

Yes sir.
the object?
None sir.
Very good. If the graph is constant
meaning the object is moving at the same
speed throughout its travel.
Clear?

Any clarifications?

We now move on how to calculate for the

speed of an object basing it in the graph.

Given this illustration:

• What is the speed of an object 2
seconds?
d
• S=
t
• S= 20m/2s = 10m/s

• How about its speed in 5seconds? Average speed is the total distance
d of an object over time.
• s=
t
• S= 50m/5s = 10m/s

Also in this Lesson we can also solve for its S=

average speed. 0m+10m+20m+30m+40m+50m/0s+
Going back to our previous lesson we said 1s+2s+3s+4s+5s
that average speed is what? S= 150m/15s = 10m/s
Very good. Meaning we are to add all the
distances of an object then divide it to its Yes sir.
total sum of its time. None sir.
Example basing on this graph again.
What are our distances?

Are clear then?

Clarifications?

d. Generalization
If you don’t have any clarifications let’s
have then our summary.
(The students will be called to say
something about what they learn for these
hour.)

IV. Evaluation
Activity: write your answer in a whole piece of paper.
1. Draw the graph of the illustration below. (but you need to draw the table first)
2. Describe the slope of the graph.
3. Solve for the speed of the car between 2seconds and 3seconds. How about
between 4seconds and 5seconds?

V. Assignment
The students will have an advance reading on acceleration.
