THE PEDAGOGY IN TEACHING

Lesson 1: The Pedagogy in Learning

Activity 1

Application
After completing your work above, answer the questions below as guide for reflective thinking.
Use the space after each question to discuss your answer.

1. How are the words you found relate in the field of education?
Those words are commonly heard or seen related to the ICT courses or even in other
courses because as we all know, school nowadays are integrating different technologies in
teaching and learning process.

2. Based on the words you have found, is education being referred to as traditional or modern?
Why do you think so?
We are now in the modern era where technologies really introduces to us especially in
education because integrating technologies in the classroom or in teaching and learning process
that provide teachers and students with easy-to-access information, accelerated learning and fun
opportunities.

3. What do you think these words do in improving the system of education today?
Technology has been a powerful tool for improving and transforming learning in the
system of education today. Based from those words, it simply shows that integrating technology
will allow not just the teachers but as well the students to develop technical skills, give
opportunities to learn new things and have meaningful and flexible learning experience. It makes
them creative, innovative, flexible, adaptive, etc.

Application
Select one competency in your specialization from grade 7-10 and create one learning task with
the use of technology that will make you consider each of the learning style discussed. Place all
your answer in spaces below. Make sure that you won’t have the same competency with your
classmates.

Specialization: SCIENCE 8
Competency: Compare and contrast comets, meteors, and asteroids

Aural Utilize podcasts. Give students the options to read articles or listen to podcasts
to learn about comets, meteors and asteroids because the aural learning style
is a style in which individuals learn best through hearing directions and
speaking answers.
Visual Provide video presentation or video clips that consisted of the information about
comets, meteors and asteroids or use a flashcards or slideshows that best to
represent the content because visual learners learn best by seeing pictures or real-
time presentation.
Verbal Use powerpoint presentation and allow learners to read and comprehend it so that
they will understand the topic about comets, meteors, and asteroids because verbal
learners prefer to learn verbally by reading or listening.
Physical Ask them to do experimentation or an observation about the topic that will deepen
their understanding about comets, meteors and asteroids because in this learning
style, learners learn best by hands on activities.
Logical Provide a digital/online puzzle that will surely allow the learners to think logical,
make connections about the topic, develops their critical thinking skills and analytic
skills.
Social Group the learners and ask them to do a project or presentation about the topic
because social learners love being around people, working in groups, teams and
overall thrives through social interactions
Solitary Ask the learners to make a journal or reflection about what they have learned in the
topic individually.
Lesson 2: Instructional Design Models

Activity 1
Interview any teacher you know – may it be your teacher in the school, your friend, your
relatives, etc. Ask them how they plan for their lesson, starting from their preparation up to their
assessment. Place your answers on the guide questions below. List all the important points you
learned in the interview.

Teacher’s Name: Sir Jonard Q. Collado Signature:

School: Manggitahan National High School
What do you do before the day’s session? What do you do at the start of the lesson?
First thing I do is to create a lesson plan as my Before delivering the content of the lesson, I
guide or an outline what content should I teach, usually start the lesson by an opening prayer
what performance should the students must and afterwards checking of the attendance.
achieve, what goals should be attain, etc. In
preparing my lesson plan, it is important to set
clear goals and learning objectives to ensure
that I should focus on specific topic and the
other parts may follow. Without my lesson
plan, it will bring me a hard time to deliver the
lesson to my students.

the lesson will proceed.

What important thing you do to effectively implement your daily lesson?

Creating or having a lesson plan is the most important thing that I could use to effectively
implement my daily lesson to my students. It will provide me with a general outline of my
teaching goals, learning objectives and means to accomplish them. It serves as a guide that I use
every day to determine what the students will learn, how the lesson will be taught as well as how
learning will be evaluated.

Analysis
After completing your work above, answer the questions below as guide for reflective
thinking.
1. What are the general ideas you have to remember in designing your lesson?
In designing a lesson plan, it is important to consider the content, objectives, learning
environment, the students and the availability of the resources to make a lesson plan more
effective and contain clear instructions.

2. What do you think made the implementation of a lesson effective? Why do you think so?
To make the implementation of a lesson be effective is because it is relevant and has a
clear learning objectives or goals that have been attained. It is also because of the teacher’s skill
on the way he/she delivered the content and how the students participate during the lesson
proper.

3. How did learning a teacher’s implementation in their daily lesson helped you in honing
yours?
Based from the interview, I gain a lot of strategies and knowledge that will help me to
hone and molds my skills in designing or creating a lesson plan. It allows me to realize and learn
some ways to implement the lesson effectively.

Application
Refer to the information you have gathered on the activity part. Select one instructional
design model in which you think fits the teacher’s implementation of instructional best.
Discuss why you chose that instructional design model. Then, identify what part of the
implementation fits to the different level/stage of the instructional design model you have
chosen.

Instructional Design Model chosen:

Why did you choose that model? Provide justification.

Lesson 3: Technology in the Constructivist Learning Environment

Activity 1

Hi! It’s your time to design your own classroom. Based on your experiences as a learner, the
demands of our specialization and the classroom activities you’re thinking, design your own
classroom.
I want my classroom to be: My ideal classroom would be student-centered. I want to focus
on how they will grow individually or even by interacting with their peers and classmates
and I will just facilitate and guide them that allow them to find their own interest and
develop their skills or abilities in their own. I will create an open and safe classroom
environment for them to learn best and be able to speak out and show their best within
themselves. I want to engage them in fun and refreshing activities not just because to make
them play but to adapt other abilities that they will be needed.

Analysis

After completing your work above, answer the question below as guide for reflective
thinking. Use the space after each question to discuss your answer.

1. What considerations did you observed in designing your classroom? Are these important
considerations? Why or why not?
I think my ideal classroom is somehow my learners would definitely love and will make
them comfortable. I considered an inviting and safe place for them to be able to learn
comfortable, I also considered what learning strategies should I use inside the classroom, what
the learners should expect in teaching and learning process, etc. I think these considerations is
very important especially if we really want to help our learners to learn better and providing
them a positive learning environment that makes out of themselves.

2. Do you think your class allows your learners to engage and create learning? Why do you
think so?
Yes, definitely. As an effective teacher, I will allow my learners to explore to gain
experiences and knowledge. I will let them to socialize with their peers or classmates and will
motivate them to actively engage in our classroom activities. It is important for them to have a
positive and organize learning environment to make them feel comfortable and will let them to
express themselves.

3. What is your role in this classroom? Is that role helps your learners optimize their
learning? Why do you think so?
My role in the classroom will be as a facilitator only since I want it to be student-centered
where they are free to express their opinions, generate their own idea, engage in real-life
situations, gain learning experiences, and more. But that doesn’t mean that my work as a teacher
will be less, rather I would definitely guide them and offer my hand if they will need, if they
have questions, if they want my observations, etc.
Application

Choose a given competency in the curriculum guide. Design instructional methods on how
you can create a constructivist learning environment in teaching that competency to your
learners.
