Test 1. Answer briefly but concisely by citing relevant situations or ideas.

1. What is an inquiry-based approach? Cite at least 3 examples showing
its advantages or disadvantages. Do teachers make use of these? Why
or why not? (10 points).
➢ Inquiry-based approach is a learning process that let the students
engage and connect their learnings into the real-world through
exploration and high-level questioning. Through this approach, it
encourages students to engage in the problem solving and experiential
learning. It activates student’s curiosity and generates excitement to
students to learn more and be able to analyze and answer their own
questions or problems.

Examples of Inquiry based approach:

➢ In an Inquiry-based approach, the teacher doesn’t always answer the
questions of the students but the students should be the one to dig
deep and analyze more in order to come up with the correct answer.
Just like in my MAPEH subject, I sometimes begin my lesson with a
video presentation. I let my students observe what’s in the video and I
let them share their observations or insights. And then I will have
questions to the students related to the video that they have watched
and they will make possible predictions about it. Then, I let them
investigate and let them engage in a small discussion with their
classmates. Through sharing of ideas, possible questions may come up
that will lead them to have more investigations and think for solutions
in order to answer another question. Through active engagement in the
process, students gain a deeper understanding regarding the topic.

➢ An Inquiry-based approach helps to enhance teamwork skills for the

learners and leads to greater long-term knowledge retention. In this
approach, there is group activity that will help learners to work and
tackle problems together. Through collaborative learning, the students
can think and perform better because they can share their ideas and
they can learn from others opinion. They can also relate the lessons in
their daily experiences and learn from it. This can help them build good
relationships with others and can be very useful in most areas of their
lives.
➢ As to the disadvantages of Inquiry-based approach, it can lead to a
student’s embarrassment since this approach requires the students to
participate and speak up with their ideas. There are students who are
not quick thinkers or those students who are introvert and can hardly
speak. They don’t have the guts to share their opinions to others for
they don’t have confidence and they are reluctance to participate.

➢ Teachers use Inquiry-based approach to boost the engagement of the

students in class. We teachers are not using traditional approach
anymore. Inquiry-based approach is a student-centered approach that
will help build and develop the critical thinking and communication
skills of the students.

2. What are professional ethics? Cite at least 3 usefulness or the don’ts of

Posture, Verbal Manner, Phone Etiquette, Social Media Etiquette and Meeting
Etiquette in
dealing with colleagues, administrators and learners. (20 points).

➢ Professional Ethics encompass the guiding principles that are to be

followed by or expected to be followed by the people in the profession.
It refers to the moral values of people working in a specific field.

➢ The 3 usefulness or the don’ts of Posture, Verbal Manner, Phone

Etiquette, Social Media Etiquette and Meeting Etiquette in dealing with
colleagues, administrators and learners are the following;

➢ Having a professional attitude can build good rapport to all the people
that surrounds you. In talking to them, we must use words in a positive
manner that can’t hurt others. Never forget to be respectful towards
everyone you interact with and exercise self-control with regard to
conversational topics and jokes.

➢ Always keep in mind to be polite all the times. In answering phone calls,
learn to answer it professionally. Welcome the callers by greeting them
and introducing yourself and the organization. If you want to ask
something to your workmates and he/she is on the phone, never
interrupt him/her. Just wait until he/she finish the phone call and
state your concern.

➢ As educators, teachers bear some responsibility in using social media.

Teachers need to maintain a respectful and professional identity.
