ROMMEL BALDESAMO

INTERPRETATION

As it was shown above the geohazard map of Barangay San Isidro, General Santos City,
that has the indications of different colors of different hazardous events such as,
landslide and flood. It has also different directions and precautionary measure on how
the area is affected. When we say very high flood susceptibility that was on the black
color, these are the areas that has the very high tendency of being flooded when there
are heavy rains. They are also prone to flashfloods and the most affected community are
those living near the riverbanks. On the second code that is blue which means High
flood susceptibility, these are the areas that is much likely to be flooded of greater than
1up to 2 meters for 3 days before it will subside, the same as the first one, the most
affected and prone of the flooded area are those who lives near the riverbanks and
some other active river channels. The third one is the Moderate flood susceptibility on
the fuchsia pink code, these are the areas that has the moderate events of floods, it
means the water level is just 0.5 meter unlike the two color that has previously
mentioned that has 2 meters of the water flood level, streams are most likely to be
prone of flooding. Lastly, is the Low flood susceptibility which has the lesser day of
flood duration of 1 day.
If it has the description of the warnings of the flood and might be subject for emergency
announcement or advisory, it should also have some directions such as the direction of
rising floodwater, direction of receding floodwater, flood depth in meter and the exit
point of flood. These are some guides of places where the flood will flow or where the
flood id headed.
Very high landslide susceptibility on landslide, those are Steep slopes are the most
important factor that make a landscape susceptible to landslides. Other key factors
include deforestation, the presence of roads, the strength of bedrock and soils, and the
location of faults. High landslide susceptibility are those areas with had a crack on it or
the old building is the best example of might be affected. Moderate landslide
susceptibility, the best example for this is the falls, but in San Isidro, we don’t have falls
here. Low landslide susceptibility, Landslides nearly always move down a slope. This is
because the force of gravity—which acts to move material downhill—is usually
counteracted by two things: the internal strength of the material, and the friction of the
material on the slope. Debris flow / Possible accumulation zone, uses as early warning
signs to prevent people on going the said area or have some safety precautionary
measures beforehand.
We had some few areas that are at risk or considerable as danger zone, and also few
people are not knowledgeable enough about the hazardous events they may encounter.
Are there any news or advisory about the hazard or maybe, don’t have much enough
knowledge on reading the directions.
